This Special Ale is, in reality, a reconstructed exhumation of the very first ale that we ever brewed way, way back, in 1993. Brewed with a big head, a muscular malty thorax, a silky texture & all strung together with a hoppy sweet nerve sack... yum.

(650ml bottle from Systembolaget) Pours a clear dark reddish amber with a big off-white head that lingers with a wall of lace. Aroma has a decent blend of hop and malt character - peach, poached pear, hint of tropical fruit, earthy, some toffee, little bit of grain. Palate has the mostly same components, sweet at first with a light toffee/caramel core, stewed fruit/red berry/stone fruit flavour A bit of citrus peel/pith shows up in the middle with some bready malt, slightly earthy. Bitterness is fairly low but definitely present on the finish to help dry things out, a bit earthy with touches of grain, more citrus peel, lingering malt notes. Medium bodied but silky with creamy carb. Was quite impressed with this one, lower expectations given the low ABV and IBU for the style along with age. Drank quite nicely, decent flavours and balance.
