This Special Ale is, in reality, a reconstructed exhumation of the very first ale that we ever brewed way, way back, in 1993. Brewed with a big head, a muscular malty thorax, a silky texture & all strung together with a hoppy sweet nerve sack... yum.

Bottle. Poured a clear reddish color with a white head. Aroma was a nice strong hoppy aroma of pine, balanced with a lot of sweet malts. Flavor was quite hoppy, with a lot of bozzy sweet malt notes. Malty finish, with some resin.

This was poured into a snifter.
The appearance was a nice looking somewhat hazy to light transparent amber color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute leaving some light lacing clinging in a nice foamy sort of way.
The smell had a nice blend of citrus sweet to piney coated caramel malts.
The taste was mainly sweet with a nice bitter underscore of piney hops. There was a light piney/caramel aftertaste leading into a dry piney finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was somewhat sharp but still good for the style.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good Imperial Red that I would bang again.

Flaska från SB. Dofter av citrus, ananas, bränd karamell och tobak. Skön eldig munkänsla där alkoholen inte blir påträngande. Lång eftersmak.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Mastikim. Clear copper-amber. Aroma of malt, caramel, toast, a cookie-ish note and piney and citric hops, slightly stale. Sweetish malty flavor with some caramel, toast, a biscuity touch, some decent hops, a bit citric and piney, and a moderately bitter finish. Medium-bodied.
