03/08/2018 - 75 cl bottle @Cantillon (my contribution to this year's international beer day. Nice red color, medium white head fading until a small head. Nose is first barnyard, a bit cheesy, than some fruits, wood and funk. Taste is very gentle red fruits, funk, sourness and hints of sweetness, wood, bit red wine, dry. Damn very nice. As the Vigneronne, also in this one, the sourness is gentle ( the lambic is less outspoken) and subtle which makes it "drinkable" for lesser sour lovers, than again they one pay the price for it (which they easily pay for champaign or wine. Don't know how to rate this because my preference goes to other Cantilllon beers but all in all it's a very very nice beer.

Bottle, 2017 version (thanks harri). Pours red. Aroma is sour, berries, funk. Flavor is sour, oak, tannins, red grapes, funk, dryness, berries. Finish is dry and bit watery. Overall: great, but would have loved bit more hops in the finish, at the moment the finish felt bit watery and boring.

Quintessence. Unclear red. Fruit stone, almond, funk, yoghurt. Medium, straight bitter and sour, almost offensive. Fruity, some grapes, but mostly stones still. Yoghurt, quark. Good, but not outstanding.

(2017 on tap @ Moeder Fontainas/bottle @ Cantillon, May 1/18) Pours basically clear pale red with a small whitish head. Notes of bright zippy red grapes, tart red forest berries, grape skins, grass, light herbs, soft vinous acidity, a little lemony tartness, bit of dry earth, soft wooden tannins, lightly to moderately tart overall and pretty dry into the finish with lingering tannins. Light to medium bodied, a bit slick, with soft carbonation. Feels fairly young, soft and wine-like, lacking the punchy complexity and heft of the earlier bottling I had with pineau d'aunis. I think this will develop over time nicely but I'm also not convinced it will reach the heights of some earlier bottlings.

Sampled at Quintessence 2018. Hazy pinkish ruby pour with a pink head. Smells a lot like a berry yogurt. Taste notes include blackberry yogurt, berries, lactic acid, light funk, berry tartness. A bit difficult for me to identify the grapes, or maybe I have never had grapes like d'aunis. A very interesting fruited lambic.
