Cloudy brown color, medium brown head. Aroma of roasted and dark malts, licorice, coffee. Taste is a bit creamy, almost stout-like, roasted malts. Taste is better than aroma. Malty palate.

[2003 bottleling - sampled December 2004] A deep red beer with a huge brown head. The aroma is quite sweet with notes of prunes, raisins, and burnt caramel. The flavor is sweet, very roasted, with notes of caramel, prunes, chocolate as well as hints of yeast. The end is very dry roasted almost like pibe tobacco.

(My label says clearly: brewed and bottled by 3 Horne, Kaatsheuvel for St. Servattumus). Dark ruby-brown; brownish slim but creamy head. Rich nose: preserved fruits, dipped in caramel, poured over with a good brandy-based liqueur. Roasted, even burnt malts and caramel... on the verge of really bitter. After the shock has gone, a new flavour comes up, as from goat cheese or blue cheese. Palate has more bitterness, but this is hoppy too. Warming up, tobacco notes. Full-bodied, warming. I'm flabbergasted. Is this the same beer as the other raters had? I just love it. Young and 3 Horne, recipe from Sint-Servattumus, I must be dreaming - short of miracle.

Dark color; non persistent head. Strong aroma: malt, chocolate, light liquorice. Dry mouthfeel, with some malt and liquorice, and a touch of roasted barley; too light sensation. Too short finish.
Good tastes, but too light.
