Thornbridge Imperial Raspberry Stout. We all know that drinking beer is a congenital pastime and brewing beer can be just as fraternal. This collaboration between Rob Lovatt of Thornbridge and Jessica Heidrich St. Eriks is testament to the friendship and inspiration that brewing can produce.
This Imperial Raspberry Stout pours rich and dark with aromas and tastes of liquorice and chocolate, complimented by the generous infusion of prime Scottish raspberries.

Draught @ 5th Borefts Beer Festival 2013, Brouwerij de Molen, Bodegraven, Netherlands. [ As Thornbridge Raspberry Stout ].Clear medium red brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, chocolate, vintage, keller, moldy - fusty, raspberry notes. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, raspberry, roasted, chocolate. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130927]

Draught @ Kitty’s
Aroma has roasted notes, vanilla, some raspberries and hints of ash. Flavour is tart with strong raspberry juice notes. Also some vanilla in the background. Finishes with lactic-like notes. Aroma was nice but this tart raspberry mixed with roastiness is just too much for me.

(Keg at Kitty’s, 20140301) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, liquorice and sweetness. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, chocolate, raspberries, sweetness and ash. Aftertaste had raspberries and chocolate. The beer felt like eating a chocolate cake with a thick raspberry topping. A tasty experince but not a beer I would drink again.

A colablack beer with a creamy, big and brown head. The nose of lots of sweet and naturall raspberries, also liquirice, roastiness and some sourness. Lots of raspberries in the taste but also more roastiness, sourness and raspberry stones, herbs in the end. Medium+ bodied, smooth carbonation. A slightly controversial beer, raspberries are nice but they aren’t mix totally to the other flavour. The balance is better when the beer is warmer.

Aroma - soft roast, soft raspberry, rich dark malts, no alcohol
Taste - Big fresh juicy raspberry, rich deep dark malts, chocolate, big fruits, slightly tart, no alcohol, fantastic rich big fruity flavour, not that complex, but just tastes great to me
Palate - soft carb, full body, soft tart, rich sweet dark malts. Finish - yummy raspberries, smooth dark malts, great palate
Overall - Stunning impy, I love raspberries and they are done so well in this, fresh and juicy. Just a wonderful beer.

Flaska från SB. Mörkt mahognyfärgad och klar. Fin hallondoft där de andra dofterna av rostad malt hamnar i bakgrunden. Tydlig hallonsmak, syrlig låg sötma och kanskei lite tunn kropp för stil men med en markerad beska som inte riktigt är integrerad med de andra smakerna. Lite lakritsdrag finns där och skapar en hallonlakritsgodistouch som är trevlig. Det är jättegott men jag hade nog önskat mig lite mer kropp och sötma eller något mindre beska för en bättre balans.
