Sampled @ Borefts 2014. Very dark brown to black color, small to average sized light brown head. Smell and taste lightly malts, leaves, something weird to it, lightly roast, a hint of tart maybe. Decent body and carbonation.

Borefts. Black with nice beige grey head. Roasted malts, coffee, spices and some weird tropical fruit touch, almost coconut. Creamy feel. Quite good.

Enjoyed on tap at Akkurat in Stockholm, SW after having dinner with some friends. Very happy to have been able to have anything from this Swedish brewer that I can’t try in the states. Unfortunately I didn’t take tasting notes for this one, but was greatly surprised by the appearance and aroma. Appearance is a glowing muddy dark brown with a very rich and frothy off white head. Aroma of lightly roasted caramel and leafy hops, smell was fantastic. Taste was also great, definite hop presence which lingered as I drank this. Good good stuff, wish I could get more readily in the states!

Draught @ OT. Pours black with a big creamy mocha head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of sticky lacing and trace on the glass. Smell is malty with roasted malts, burnt caramel, moist soil, dried pine needles, dark chocolate, coffee, salty liquorice hard candy, hay and toffee. Taste is slightly sweet, bitter, tiny fruity and malty with roasted malts, salty liquorice hard candy, bitter chocolate, burnt caramel, mint and butterscotch hard candy. Mouthfeel is round, soft, slightly roasted astringent and medium bodied. Finish is bitter with roasted malts, salty liquorice, dark roast coffee, hay, soil, bitter chocolate, grapefruit rinds and dried pine needles. Solid hoppy porter.

Borefts Beer Festival 2013. Near black with a small, but lasting tan head. Malty aroma of toffee, caramel and licorice with a touch of fruit. Sweet caramel and toffee flavour with vanilla notes. Too sweet for me

On tap at Haand Festival. A clear looking dark brown beer topeed by a finger-thick, dense, brown head. The aroma is roasted with lots of chocolate. Some hoppy scents too, grapefruit mostly. The flavor too is roasted and bitter, with chocolate, pine cones and grapefruit. Full body, quite dry and with a pleasant carbonation. Nice bitterness in the lasting finish which is quite roasted. A pleasant hoppy porter. 130524
