Bottle: Poured a deep black color porter with a large brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of floral coffee notes with some dry and lightly bitter roasted malt and some subtle dark chocolate notes. Taste is also dominated by some floral coffee notes and some subtle black chocolate notes with some dry roasted malt notes also playing a major role. Light residual sugar can also be detected with no astringency and good balance overall. Body is average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Solid rendition of the style with good balance overall.

Bottle. Opaque deep brown liquid with medium light tan head. Aroma of licorice, dark fruit, British yeast esters, toffee, bread and light booze. Taste is light sweet and light bitter with notes of dark fruit, chocolate, biscuit and banana. Medium bodied with low to medium carbonation. Balanced but a bit too estery for my liking.

dobry porter, ciemny o rubinowych odcieniach z kremową zolta mocna piana. tresciwe i troche ciezkawe. palony slod z lekka slodycza. uzupelnialy sie wspaniale te dwa przeciwstawne smaki. piana trwala. elegandzka butelka typu szmpanskiego. finisz zdecydowanie jednak wytrawny

(750mL bottle from the LCBO) Pours a dark brown, nearly black, with a huge foamy tan head that receded slowly with a bit of lace. Aroma of roasted malt, dark sugar and molasses, coffee, slight grassy hops and licorice. Flavour light coffee, toffee, barely sweet at first. Later becomes a bit roasty, mineral, slight bitter citrusy hops and anise on the dry finish. Body is very light, carbonation light and active from bottle fermentation - too thin and watery for the style. Flavours are there but concentration and heft is lacking. This is not a bad porter but it’s not outstanding either.

75 cl bottle @ home. Rated on 05.01.2010
Aroma has roasted malt, some licorice and coffee. Flavour has licorice, some semi‐dark chocolate and hints of coffee. Good, but somehow I expected this to be more rich and smooth.

Celebrating the new year (2013) with this beautiful brown glass, wine-looking bottle with a cork and cage. Pours a dark brown colour with a big beige, cream-frothy head, that stays long and gives out patchy lacing. Vanilla aromas covering the roasted malts, with notes of the hop eventually coming out, giving some fruitiness over the coffee. Watery coffee taste with a little hop covering the roasted malts. Decent, but just a little too watery for my likings, especially at 6.5% ABV.

This porter poured a deep black colour with a creamy, tan coloured head. Nice lacing. Scents include plastic, malt, small amount of coffee and cocoa. First swig was nice and roasty with other flavours of coffee, light hops and very little cocoa. Finish is roasted as it gets...

Pungent smell of roast malt with some smokiness. Pours blackish maroon. A little bitter, well balanced generally. Some vanilla here. A bit of oakiness. Low carbonation.

(Bottle) Dark brown/black in colour, with tan head. Aroma of roasted/toasty malts. Flavour is smoky roasted malts, caramel hops and roasted coffee. I really like this and must try more of their range as the brewer Meantime is not far from home.
