Buxton - A true, ancient Spa town, stands where the Limestone and Gritstone bedrocks of the White Peak and Dark Peak meet. Pure, delicious mineral water flows constantly out of the ground. For centuries this water source ensured Buxton's prosperity, and is the inspiration for this beer, bringing English malts, Citra hops and the unsung-hero of beer - water together.

Keg at Buxton Tap, Buxton, Thursday 16th April 2015 Amazed that I have never had this yet (I probably have but never got round to rating) Pours hazy golden with a light filmy white head. We are both getting a bit of sulphour. Loz thinks it is a bit thin but she is on Axe Edge. I think that this is a really good session beer, a steady lilting citrussy vein throughout leading to a lengthy dry finish. A6 A3 T7 P4 Ov13 3.3

Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 6B, adapted). Bottle 33 cl - Batch G:B116. AROMA: general hop aromas with notes of mango and grapefruit with a faint malty background. APPEARANCE: slight gold color and hazy. average white moussy head with good retention. TASTE: soft sweet malty flavour with bready notes and hop flavours (mango and grapefruit). medium-high bitterness that lasts beyond a semi-dry finish. PALATE: medium-light to light body with medium carbonation. no astringency. OVERALL: a golden pale ale more oriented to the Citra hops used with slight more bitterness than usual.
