A deep dark reddish brown barley wine with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with vinous notes, dark fruits, light bourbon barrel notes, woody notes, very nice. In mouth, a nice caramel malt with vinous character, alcohol warmth, boozy, licorice, Pinot de Charente, very nice and rich. On tap at l'autre oeil.

Picked up in trade. Lovely toasted malts, dry toffee and caramel, stewed fruits, understated bourbon, raisins. Good body, not overly sweet. Moderately warming to finish.

Mixed 4-pack from their Collection Hiver 2024 (production date 2024-12-03). Newer 330ml bottles this year, pouring a deeper amber colour with some tiny particles floating around, a big frothy-creamy light mocha-coloured head, leaving creamy-sticky lacing. Wow, what great aromas - which I did not expect. Some coffee notes, nuttiness, caramel, apples, vanilla and hints of alcohol. The vanilla-oak really comes out in the taste, with some light boozy-bitterness-grassiness in the finish. Pretty rich, but the dryness cuts things very well. A Barleywine with a great nose, and decent flavours which is not as sweet as you would think - and warms up your heart (in summer).
