Its well-balanced taste and aroma is achieved with carefully selected spices. It is produced from mellow nectarous honey with the addition of blackcurrant juice.
Created on the basis of honey mash, with the proportions 1 part honey to 1 part water. Its several-year-long maturing provides it with a piquant taste and aroma. It contains 16% alcohol.

75 cl bottle @ home. No #22272.
Quite dark appearance for a mead. Alcoholic aroma fills our table immediately when pouring. A closer smell reveals these aromas: alcohol, honey, some root beer notes and distant woody notes. When I take my nose out of the glass and smell again, the root beer notes get stronger. Flavour is sweet; it starts with alcohol and root beer notes. Finishes with honey and woody notes. The honey gets stronger towards the end of the glass. Good, although the alcohol disturbs. Not as good as Jadwiga.

Bottle has been closed with its own cork, plastic wrap and tape, kept in room temp and re-opened after half an year. Still as good, no signs of ageing or contamination whatsoever.

Bottle shared by Captain Cougar. Thanks! Pours a clear dark amber color. Dark aroma with notes of honey, sherry and wood. The taste is intensely sweet honey, raisin, sherry, citrus and a slight medicinal note. Full bodied.

Bottle. Not as thick and smooth as the jadigwa, otherwise quite similar. Sweet, flowery, fruity.

Bottled. Clear amber, no head. Caramelly and super sweet with full body and viscous mouthfeel. Ripe fruits and caramel. loads of sugar gives and aggressive sweetness. Intense, but sugar takes over in the finish.

0.25l bottle kindly shared by the one and only ClubGonzo. Pours a lovely looking woody dark caramel-looking mead. Aroma is sweet, honey, sweet but not to sweet. Dates, raisin and a bit of farm as well. Lovely stuff. Actually can remind a bit of the amazing Utopias and perhaps even Mooi & Machtig. Anyhow, the flavors are just so fantastic. Sweet with lots of dates, raisins, figs, dried apples and candy sugar. So tasteful and it's just amazing that it's possible to make these fantastic meads by just using something a bee pushed out it's little dingy dingy. Mmmm..ead! Thank's for sharing Stian (and Rune of course!)

Had this at the 2011 mid summer morning mead tasting at Vintage, nice place, y’know? Black currant it says. Clear somewhat reddish orange in appearance. Strong alky aroma. No hint of currants in aroma. Very forward mead taste. Finish has backbone of berries but this is the only place you get fruit. Not bad overall but certainly seems stronger than most other meads tasted. Some burn on the finish. sweird breadiness too.

Sample at the Mead Molehill tasting on 01/10/2011. Clear brown-amber color with a thin light beige head that is gone quickly. Spotty lace. Aroma of spices and honey. Medium body with flavors of sweet spices, honey and fruit. The finish is sweet up front with a tart berry aftertaste. Pretty good overall.
