Bottle at Norøl’s Bokkølfestival. A clear, copper-colored beer topped by a white head. Sweetish caramel malts, some hints of roasted malts and dms on the nose. The flavor too is on the malty side, sweet and warming, but there’s also a nice addition of hops in this one. Full body. Warming, sweet malty finish with sufficient bitterness to cope with the sugars. A nice doppelbock I’d happily drink more of in the colder months. 100313

33cl bottle @ Flensburg. Pours clear amber with a small creamy white head and lacings. Nose is metal, corn and caramel. Medium bodied. Taste has less metal and a bit of bread, caramel and alcohol. Ok - but fairly disappointed! 2nd. poor is a lot better. Less metal and some pretty chewy caramel and bread. From 3,1 to 3,3.

Bottle, 7.5%. Clear dark brown colour. Very small frothy tan head. Good malty flavour, quite sweet. Dark brown sugar, some caramel. Good alcohol level to balance. Distinct bitterness also gives a good balance.
