330ml bottle. Clear dark copper colour with small, frothy, minimally lacing, off-white head. Caramel malty and slightly fruity aroma, a nuttily touch. Taste is caramel malty with a nuttily touch, bitter hoppy overtones, bitter hoppy finish. A bit watery, prickling carbonation.

Bottle, many thanks to pivnizub. Cola like brown color with small white head. Aroma of biscuit malt, cookies, toffee, caramel. Taste, syrup, caramel, honey, dried fruit(plums?), nuts, hints of chocolate. Sweet finish with hints of bitterness in background and alcohol. Good Doppelbock.

Sampled on draft at Zeno’s in State College PA this beer poured a dark caramel color with a large foamy tan head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was strong caramel, molasses and had an intense vegetal presence. The flavor was full bore vegetal malts with sour caramel, nut and molasses underneath. Long finish. Thick and full body. Ok.

33cl short green bottle pours a nice crystal clear deep ruby red amber with 20 second off white head. The aroma is mild and offers up graham cracker, Christmas fruit cake and a soft faint layer of chemical booze. The taste has a mild malt roastiness to start and then moves into prune and raisin fruity ester as well as thin ribbons of caramel like malts. It ends with a slight drying sensation from the modest booze and some roasted malt astringency that helps even out the sweetness.

10/10/10/10/12/10

draft at JK O’Donnell’s - Pours dark amber with minimal head. It has a rich caramel malt aroma. The flavor is very sweet caramel malt and a little dark fruit. It’s medium to full bodied, lightly carbonated, and altogether quite pleasant to drink though there are some better doppelbocks out there.

Bottle sample at a tasting. Best before 6/29/10. Thanks Oren. Hazy deep amber. Deep aroma of malt, caramel, a bit of fruitiness and some dark bread. Sweet malty flavor with caramel, a bit of chocolate, some roasty notes and a slightly drier and slightly fruity finish. Medium-bodied.
