Typical Einbecker 0,33 l bottle. More a red than a dark brown beer in the glass. Small short living head. Malt and hints of cherry on the nose. Strong, low sweetness, more dry, hints of licorice. Okay.

Ein dunkler Doppelbock aus Einbeck. Da bin ich mal gespannt: Süßlich-malziger Geruch, dunkles Bernstein im Glas. Der Antrunk ist süßffig-malzig und süßlich-würzig. Der Hauptteil wird schön vollmundig-süßlich mit einem leichten herb-malzigen Touch. Zum Nachgeschmack wird das Bier würzig-süßlich und sehr schön malzig. Der Nachgeschmack ist trocken-malzig mit feinherber Note.
--> Sehr schöner Doppelbock, aber auch etwas zu flach geraten. Die vorhandenen Aromen sind sehr gut, aber viel zu wenig ausgeprägt. Irgendwie fehlt es an Tiefe. Somit macht es ein Bisschen den Eindruck eines „Easy to drink Doppelbock“, dem man die 7,5% aber nicht anmerkt. Trotzdem sehr lecker!

Smak och doft av malt, humle, torkad frukt, farinsocker, karamell, nötter med toner av laktris. En aning för söt men med en bra beska.

Bottle @ Home. Pours dark amber with a fading light brown head. Aroma of malt, burnt caramel, dark fruit, nuts, some alcohol. Flavor of malt, caramel, dark fruits, little licorice, little alcohol. Medium body, soft mouthfeel, soft carbonation, little warming alcohol in the finish. 160213

Bottle. Clear caramel with a thin head. Aroma is light caramel malts. Flavour is sweet, warming, light chocolate with some alco warming.

Bottle. Pours clear copper brown with small and airy light tan head. Clear aroma of malt, caramel, fruit and booze in the long nose. Pleasant, sweet and roasted flavour of malt and caramel. Dryish aftertaste. Quite decent.

Total Wine, Fairfax 33cl ($3): Pours a reddish brown with a medium sized head. Aroma is dark fruits, cake, and malts. Body is on the lighter side for the style. Alcohol is still well-covered, but this don’t go crazy either with high alcohol so it ain’t that much of an achievement. Sweetness is kept in check. Easy to drink, but not interesting to drink.

Mild leather and cherry nose. Clear ruby, no head. Dried leaves, wheat bread crust. Mild cherry note, but not overly fruity. Alcohol fairly well concealed.

Medium beige head. Clear deep amber body. Deep earthy caramelly aroma with mineraly raisiny marzipan notes. Dry-sweet dried fruit caramel and marzipan taste with mineraly roasty notes. Mid-to-full body. Mild mouthfeel. Dryish roasty caramelly aftertaste with grainy mineraly oily marzipan notes. Lovely! Highly drinkable and full of character. (0.5l bottle, bought by wife in Berlin.)

Strong dried fruit aroma, with some coffee/dark chocolate bitterness in the flavor. Dark nut brown with thick foamy head. Not bad, but smoother dopplebocks are available, like Paulaner Salvator.
