We have many friends all over the world. In Poland, we were introdused to an almost forgotten traditional aromatic hop called Iunga. We even met the hop farmer -nice guy! But surley we should not brew the beer just ourselves. Michal Saks from AleBrowar in Poland voluntered to come to Norway and together we brewed this fantastic IPA.

Sample from 50 cl. bottle. Deep golden colour with a big, lasting white head. Fruity aroma with peach, citrus fruits - orange peel - herbal and floral hops. Caramel malts. Taste is bitter. Medium body with a creamy texture and an average carbonation. Finishes dry and bitter with herbal hops. Okay, dry IPA - the lunga hops is rather herbal.

Bottle at Pub Winston. Orange color, steady white head. Grainy citrusy aroma. Medium-bodied. Front is citrusy then a bit strange farmhouse type hoppyness. Fruity backbone. This hop is kind of odd.

500ml bottle. Hazy golden colour with average to huge, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Fruity hoppy aroma, rather unspecific fruit notes share aspects with yellow apple and mandarine, a herbal touch. Taste is moderately bitter hoppy, herbal, mineral-grassy, a spicy touch of hay. Not bad, but maybe the Lunga is not the best choice for a single hop IPA.

Cloudy golden color with a fine white head. Good lacing. Rich fruity, a bit citric and some herbal notes in the aroma. Ok body. Mild mellow sweetness and a pleasant bitterness. Average carbonation. Tropical fruity, mild malty, hoppy and some herbal notes in the flavor. A bit unusual, but absolutely ok.

Bottle, thanks SirLimpsalot. Hazy golden with a medium white head. The hop profile in this beer was quite special, actually a bit hard to describe. Soft with grass, some light "earth" and grapefruit. Not that bitter. The body was medium. An interesting one.

Bottle from ABC Beers, Den Haag. Poured a hazy straw colour with a frothy white head. The aroma is light hop, a little floral. The flavour is moderate bitter with a woody resin skunky light citrus light spice hop palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Not the best IPA I’ve had to be honest.

Bottle shared thanks to Deanso. Pours hazy golden big floater orange with an off white head. Aroma of cheesy skunky hops, light pine, orange peel and caramel. Flavour is moderate sweet and over moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Biggish offwhite head. Hazy yellow body with floaties. Vague fruity aroma. Dry mealy citric taste with herbal notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish mealy orange peel aftertaste with herbal notes. I don’t think iunga is in any danger of becoming my favourite hop. (0.5l bottle, I forget where from. Batch #1253.)

A three month old bottle. A cloudy, light orange beer with an almost medium and white head. The nose has lots of citrusfruits, mandarin and blood oranges, interesting pine needles. Unique aroma. Taste has citrusfruits, blood oranges, pine needles but not from North Americas pines, at least medium bitterness. Medium bodied, balanced carbonation. Iunga feels to be interesting and unique hop. Strongly citrusfruity and piney IPA.
