We have many friends all over the world. In Poland, we were introdused to an almost forgotten traditional aromatic hop called Iunga. We even met the hop farmer -nice guy! But surley we should not brew the beer just ourselves. Michal Saks from AleBrowar in Poland voluntered to come to Norway and together we brewed this fantastic IPA.

On tap @ S&B Bo 2014. Frisch-hopfig in der Nase. Das Bier beginnt herb-intensiv, frisch-fruchtig. Toll blumig. Frisch-malzig. Herb-blumig im Nachgeschmack. Nett, aber zu trocken-penetrant.

Pours hazy golden with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, pineapple, floral and something that reminds me of honey. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter with a long bitter, orange peel and kind of dry finish.Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

On tap @ Kick. Unclear orange body with a small off-white head. Unusually and not very strong aroma. I assume this is has something to do with the hops, could not recognize this as particular fruity or grassy, it’s more in the direction of spicy or herbal. Still difficult to place. Some caramel malt as well but the undefined hop aroma dominates here. Flavor is a bit more ordinary, actually not particular exiting at all. Sweet malt, mild caramel malt general fruitiness, some grassy bitterness. Nice balanced body and average aftertaste. Not bad, just a bit odd and I really don’t get it, for me it just ends up a bit to anonymous. Got another bottle and will try again.

On tap at Kick. Deep golden colour with an off-white head. Aroma is weak but pleasent. Flavour is also a little bit weak but very pleasent in my opnion . Flavour is orange, malt, hop, pine, grapefruit. A very easy drinkable beer.

500 ml bottle, will soon be available at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6%. Hazy deep golden colour, moderate white head. Very pleasant and interesting aroma of Iunga hops, with complex herbal, fruity and spicy notes, hints of honey. Distinctly hoppy flavour, herbal and fruity notes first, then a massive and sharp (too sharp?) chinine-like bitterness takes over. Long and bitter aftertaste.

Bottle. An unclear one, golden in color and with a dense, off-white head, two-finger thick. The aroma is very hop forward, with gooseberries, orange peel, peaches, pineapple, some grass and honey and a flowery touch in the aroma. The malts hiding well. I’d like it a tad more bitter, both initially and in the end, with some pale malts in the back. Gooseberry, orange peel, pine cones, some spiced and flowery notes and a touch of pineapple as well. Medium to full body, pleasantly carbonated and quite dry on the palate. Long hoppy finish. A really nice one, different and tasteful, and sure moreish. 140929
