Hops, hops, hops. The Kompaan 58 Handlanger has skipped the process of a normal IPA and has hopped over to adulthood. Backwards engineering! Lots of hops: Simcoe, Amarillo and El Dorado and three kinds of malts. A full flavored double IPA of 8.2%, but beware!
This beer is strong, but doesn’t taste as quite as dangerous--just like a night on the town with your “handlangers” (accomplices). Citrusy notes in smell and taste in combination with a tropical fruit palate and a bittersweet aftertaste.

Buddel: Deep golden, hazy, lively carbonation, bigger loose but stable off-white head; sweet-bitter citrussy-fruity nose with traces of malt and cough-syrup; moderate to solid bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied, both tart and soft; lingering robust bitter and sweet finish with malt, lemony hops and a tinge of warmjng booze. Not really great, but very suitable for winter evenings...

Helder geel bier met schuim. Smaak is bitter hoppig en licht zoet met iets van thee, citrus en ananas. Mooie gebalanceerde smaak die lang blijft hangen.

Bottle from an Albert Heijn in Ghent. Pours hazy orange/amber with a lasting, small, white head. The aroma contains flowery hops, grapefruit, citrus, pine and yeast. It tastes light fruity sweet and medium hoppy bitter with a long, dry finish. Medium body, slick texture, lively carbonation. Nice balancing sweetness; recommended.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Albert Heijn Leerdam. Hazy dark amber with white head. Malty aroma with grassy and tropical fruit hops. Sweetish smooth taste with an underlying bitterness. Solid double IPA but not very exciting.

Bottle at home. Nice amber color, foam disappears quickly. Good taste that has a long finish. Too heavy in alcohol, actually. But overall a good beer.

F: big, tan, long lasting. C: amber with red hue against the light, hazy. A: malty, fruity, bit of pine resin, tropical fruits, bit of nutty, paprika, orange. T: malty backbone, pine resin, tropical fruits, orange, bit of tangerine, caramel, light oily mouthfeel, bit of alcohol, full body, low to medium carbonation, very nice example for the style, fully enjoyed, 33cl bottle from Albert Heijn Duinenwater supermarket in Knokke.

Bottle. Color: Amber, very tiny white head. Taste: Starting medium sweet, immediately followed by citrus and floral hopbitterness. Some alcohol notes. Notes of candy and caramel. Pretty long lasting floral hopbitter finish. Rather sweet for a DIPA, but overall a nice one. Fortunately not that overwhelming citrus hop taste from many other modern IPA?s.
