Voor de nazomer hebben we dit keer de White IPA gebrouwen, een smakelijke kruising tussen een witbier en een IPA. De tarwemout zorgt voor een frisse smaak met een licht zuurtje, aangevuld door een volle bitterheid van de Chinook hop en een stevige dryhop met Amarillo en een klein beetje Chinook. Voor wat extra frisheid zijn er ook nog een paar limoenen en wat gedroogde sinaasappelschil in de White IPA gegaan. Een lekker smaakbommetje dus om heerlijk mee de nazomer in te gaan.

Fruity nose. Cloudy yellow-golden (with yeast particles), frothy white head, stays quite a while, good lacing. Aroma lemon, grapefruit, peach, apricot, like a sorbet, citrus hops, overpowering the wheat which comes in later after warming up a bit, some dough, hint of ginger. Taste bitter and dry. Light to medium body, slick feel, lively carbonation, hoppy bitter finish with wheat, spruce and citrus coming through, smooth mouthfeel. Bit of a strange brew.

33 cl bottle @ home. Dark golden color, slightly hazy. Big, dense white head with good retention. Aroma’s: the spices that go with witbier, well blended with citrussy hops. More citrussy sourness retronasal. Flavor is moderate bitter with some sweetness and spices. Quite high carbonation. Body is light to medium. Finishes with some spices and quite bitter. Excellent blend!

Hazy amber color. Frothy white head, wheat, hoppy grassy. Very smooth, very hoppy, some cheese notes. Big bitter finish. Excellent. Very enjoyable.

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks Tom L. Hazy yellow-golden with a white head. Aroma of wheat, some fruitiness, a bit of spiciness and a bit of floral hops. Wheaty flavor, spicy, sweetish and fruity, with some floral hops and mild bitterness. Medium-bodied.

33 cl bottle. Pours cloudy yellow with a small white head. Estery, fruity aroma. Sweet, fruity, toasted malty. Lingering fruity. Bitter, citrusy, crisp hoppy and mellow yeasty. Bitter and lingering fruity.

Purchased this at Bierkonig shop, Amsterdam, Monday 30 th September consumed at De Vlaschard campsite, Middelburg, Netherlands, Wednesday 2nd October 2013 Pours pale yellow a little too cloudy following a clumsy pour, busy white head on top. Really hoppy and whilst there are wheaty characteristics this is wonderfully bitter with a softened edge. The Amarillo and Cascade really zappy. Love this wish I’d purchased a few. Bottle shared as a road soda thanks to Deanso. Pours hazy golden with a thick off white head. Aroma of grapefruit, pineapple, lychee, light yeast. Flavour is light moderate sweet and moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Hazy deep golden colour, white head. Aroma of unripe (tropical) fruits, greens, wheat, green banana, yeast. Flavour is wheat, yeast, unripe fruits, grass, more greens, some citrus, firm bitter hoppy finish with spruce and citrus. Light to medium-bodied. Maybe a bit too young perhaps? I’m not feeling it with this one.
