Petrus Aged Pale is a 100% foeder beer, aged for 24 months in our oak foeders. It has been the reference for sour beers for years. Moreover, ever since the establishment of the brewery, this beer has been used to blend with other beers to give them fresh, slightly sour flavours and aromas.

Refrigerated 11.2 brown bottle poured into a snifter. Clear golden with small white head. Aroma nice tart, medium body, low carbonation, and pretty good lacing. Taste is nice tart, oak, and slightly bitter finish.

Bronze colored, clear, small off white head. Really amazing aroma, overripe fruits, citric notes, some oak, some candy caramel, some sourness but nothing compared to the flavor. Taste is low to medium sweet, quite strong sourness, acetic, fruits, citric, woody notes, moderate bitterness, dry finish. Medium bodied, silky, moderate carbonation.

F: white head frothy, not long lasting. C: hazy gold colour. A: wine, earthy yeast, wood, hint of lemon. T: very special dry earthy, vinous, grapefruit, vinegar sourness and dryness on the palate, some woody tones, leather, tart fruit, medium to complex body, good carbonation, nice dry end on the palate, very good one for this style, worth to try.

0,33 l bottle from drankgigant.nl, best before 23/1/2016. Clear, pale golden yellow with a medium large, foamy, almost stable, white head. Intense, sourish-fruity and slightly funky aroma of orange, cinnamon, white wine, gherkin, gooseberry and sauerkraut. Sour, fruity taste of citrus, white wine and gooseberry with hints of nutmeg, followed by a long, sour, tart finish. Thin body, very astringent and spritzy mouthfeel, soft to average carbonation. Very complex on the nose, a bit more one-dimensional on the tongue but still very tasty and refreshing. Thanks Michael Jackson for this beer!

330ml bottle from a holidaying friend. Pours clear pale gold, long lasting thick white head, nice lacing. Sour aromas, almost wine vinegar territory. Taste has a crisp apple thing going on, dry like champagne, sour too. Lovely.

A very clear and bright gold. The foam wasn’t excessive but has a lot of retaining power. Lacing? For sure.
Geez, this smells good if you are a sour beer fan and don’t mind some horse blanket permeating your nose buds.
I am deliberately trying to pull some of that funk out of my first few sips and I can but make no mistake, this one’s all about the sour and quite a bit about the bitter.
On the sour scale shown on the label, 1 to 5, this comes in at a 5. I believe it and I relish in it.
I would call it close to medium bodied with a solid but not outrageous level of carbonation.
Dang this is good. On or at least at the level of your beers from Cantillion, De Cam, Tilquin, Gerard. .
