Four thousand years before Christ, Sumerian women created the divine drink of beer. Viking women brewed in Norse society. European Ale Wives were so successful as cottage brewers they were taxed. Artisanal women lost their domination of the daily ritual of brewing during the Industrial Revolution. Today’s brewing trade is controlled by men.
The collaboration of two Craft companies both led by women, New Glarus Brewing and Weyermann Malting, is unique. You hold the result “Two Women” a Classic Country Lager brewed with Weyermann’s floor malted Bohemian malt and Hallertau Mittelfrueh hops. A tempting and graceful classic lager found…Only in Wisconsin!
Admin Note: Recipe changed in 2011 and is different than the 2010 version in 500ml bottles. This is now a year round release.

Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 12 ounce bottle into lager glass, best before 1/5/2018. Pours slightly hazy deep golden/amber color with a 1 finger dense and rocky off white head with awesome retention, that reduces to a small cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aroma of big cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light honey/nuttiness, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity of bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light honey/nuttiness/pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light honey/nuttiness/pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, with zero yeast notes present. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, bready/grainy, and fairly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is an excellent Munich helles! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and refreshing to drink with the mellowly bitter/drying finish. Nicely rich clean Pils malt showcase, with solid noble hop presence/balance. A very enjoyable offering, and perfect style example.

12 oz bottle from the variety pack, bought at Keyport Liquor in Superior. Aroma is hayfields, herbal, toast, slightly spicy. Pours slightly hazy deep golden with a bone-white skiff of foam. Taste is lightly sweet with flavors matching the aroma. Crisp, clean and refreshing. Tasty for a style I don’t usually care for.

Nutty hay nose. Clear amber, thick head. Pecan, coffee, hay. Liight body, easy carbonation. Nice and flavorful, could pass for a vienna.

Bottle from Marcus. Pours medium gold with a creamy white head. Moderate noble hop aroma. Earthy, little spicy. Near med body. Flavor is a bit of sweet, bready malt with a little earthy/spicy hop. Mildly bitter. Rather clean. Not very intense flavors. Would do for lawn mowing or lake sitting.
