Four thousand years before Christ, Sumerian women created the divine drink of beer. Viking women brewed in Norse society. European Ale Wives were so successful as cottage brewers they were taxed. Artisanal women lost their domination of the daily ritual of brewing during the Industrial Revolution. Today’s brewing trade is controlled by men.

The collaboration of two Craft companies both led by women, New Glarus Brewing and Weyermann Malting, is unique. You hold the result “Two Women” a Classic Country Lager brewed with Weyermann’s floor malted Bohemian malt and Hallertau Mittelfrueh hops. A tempting and graceful classic lager found…Only in Wisconsin!

Admin Note: Recipe changed in 2011 and is different than the 2010 version in 500ml bottles. This is now a year round release.

12 oz bottle shared by MrBarleywine, thanks for the opportunity! Slightly hazy medium golden color with a decent head. Aromas of rich sweet bready pilsner malt with hints of light fruit and extremely faint floral hops. Sweet bready maltiness without much to provide balance. Fruity flavor seems out of place in a clean lager. Easy enough to drink but needs some tweaking.

Bottle pour. Thank you Frankie. Pours a nice golden color with not much aroma. Maybe a faint malt. A sort of bready flavor with some sweet malt. This is a very different pilsener for me. Sweet flavor all throughout, but surprisingly for me, it’s a good sweet, which is a little more on the rare side. I really enjoyed this beer. Smooth flavor throughout with a really nice, sweet malt finish. Solid.

Tap at The Spot. Classic noble hops, spicy, on top of a macro-ish grain bill. Filtered orange-tan body. Classic beer-beer in a lot of way, pretty insipid, but OK. Not off or bad, just an old school lager...don’t think this is a Pils. No comparison to the original, which was brighter and hoppier. Some decent Munich malt depth.

12 oz. bottle thanks to queenholly. Mostly clear amber color with head that slowly diminished in a pilsner glass. Nose is trances of honey, yeast and straw. Flavor has subtle hint of the lager yeast, wet hay, and some type of noble hop. If they use Saaz, this bottle if off because it does NOT taste like Saaz at all. Like most lagers this beer is very easy to drink with a sweet malty, bread finish. It really could use some short of different ingredient to give it some snap!
