Broeder Jacob Double Port is the first Belgian beer to be fortified with port. This brand new combination has brought something new to the beer landscape. The dark and full-flavoured beer has a subtile aftertaste of walnuts and produces a unique taste explosion that can develop to the flavour of a true vintage. The beer is fortified with the exquisite Tawny port Portal d’Azenha. This elegant and delicate port matures for at least five years in oak barrels. Enjoy this exclusive beer! EBC 120.

Almost opaque amber beer, tidy yellowish tan head. Berries and esters on the nose. Soft airy palate, semi dry and with decent carbonation. Smooth sweetish malts. Sweet esters, trace of spice. Tangy berry fruits, red berries and dark berries. Little winey tang. Smooth finish. Not bad, quite drinkable.

Many thanks for this beer to Eric De Geyter. Piwo ma fajna sporawa piane, niestety szybko opada. Barwa brazowa z licznymi odcieniami czerwieni. Zapach znikomy troche Porto moze. W smaku to smaczne lekko slodkawe piwo deserowe, porto dalo tu sie odczuc dosc wyraznie, alkohol sprytnie ukryty, doskonale do deseru, a zwlaszcza do popoludniowego Tiramisu.

dark reddish brown colour, medium sized dense beige-ish head; aroma and taste of dried cherry, raisins, grainy and herbal notes, hints of dark chocolate, cheese and wood; I don’t know...not bad at all, but somehow still not my cup of tea

Bottle 330ml (Saveur)
Dark ruby color, steady beige head. Lots of licorice in the nose, some sweetness, some faint wood and vanilla. Medium-bodied. Flavor is quite simple - licorice, caramel/brown sugar, some vanilla. I can’t trace much of port wine in this one. Interesting enough.

Bottle, 9%. Fruity and citric port aroma. Dark brown colour, seems clear and has a red tone. Small semi-stable light brown head. The flavour starts off quite sweet with a citric note. Then comes a mild vinous note along with a nice fruitiness. Thin mouthfeel for the ABV. The carbonation is (too) high and very spritzy with hard bubbles. Not an explosion of flavours considering the ABV, but well-balanced and keeps tasting good.
