KOMES PORTER reflects the history of brewing, referring to the 18th century tradition of brewing porters in the Baltic states. At their prime, Baltic porters represented one third of the market, which is the best evidence of their popularity. We offer you a well-balanced, dark, strong beer with a distinct flavour. Slow fermentation at low temperatures in open vats, coupled with long (at least 3 months) maturation have resulted in the beer’s character and complete, complex nature. The Porter’s bouquet matures further in the bottle. Time is on its side.

Deep and very oily, dark brown coloured body with a pretty thin, off-white head that shows nicely for a few seconds, but fades quickly. Aroma of rich malts, licorice, star anise and some deep, burnt sugars that bring out a nice richness. Medium-bodied; Rich malts dominate here with a lot of burnt and toasted grain elements that show off a good vanilla and sweetness after a few seconds with a light creamy quality, but this of course is about the roasted and almost burnt malts, in a good way. Aftertaste shows a good kick of the malts, but some nice balance from the sugars and a light bitterness that persists from the anise and licorice elements with some vanilla and lactose evident that brings out the creamy quality at the end. Overall, a pretty nice Baltic Porter with a good malt quality that isn't too rich or pungent, but definitely has a good range of flavours, especially those stemming from the roasted qualities for the malt and some sweetness that balances things out nicely without being cloying at all. This one isn't as good as Zyweic, but still a great option from Poland, the REAL home of the style. I sampled this 500 mL bottle, purchased from Wine Palace in Livonia, Michigan on 24-October-2022 for US$4,99, sampled on Christmas Eve, 24-December-2022, while hosting the holiday dinner for my [Polish] family.

I thought this was quite good.Standard opaque black appearance, hed is on the thin side which is fine. Carbonation is there but low which is also OK. A vinous flavor, just a hint of tartness, but not a sour beer in any way. Earthy, some sugar.

Bottled 500ml (bought in Poland, vintage 2021)
Opaque colour, not much head. Very rye bready, chocolaty aroma. Medium-bodied. Roasted, bready, dark caramel, touch of alcohol. Typical Nordic Baltic Porter brewed in style.

Bought at Liquor Shed. Code reads
58/23/21/1
It pours a cola colour with a small head of tan foam that is gone in almost a blink of the eye.
I get caramel malt, brown sugar that hints of being burnt, a sweetness of pitted fruit. Oh yeah, I do smell some alcohol.
The taste is the same with some notes of toffee and coffee(light) and some alcohol that I can feel during the swallow.
Only medium bodied, carbonation is adequate.
Really nice.

Black color with medium beige head. Aroma: caramel, roasted malt, chocolate liquor, slightly higher ABV, black forest cake. Taste: caramel, sweet coffee, red berries particularly cherries with chocolate and cream. Full body, low to moderate carbonation, moderate bitterness. Tasty, complex, pleasant surprise.
