Keg from The Beerhive. Hazy amber body with a thick off-white head. Lively carbonation. Great lacing. Aroma of pine needles, fresh hops and orange. Flavour of caramel, flinty Amarillo hops and wood. Medium body with a smooth, oily mouthfeel. Light fizz. A real treat for hop heads.

Tap at CBC 2014. Beer in the glass reddish-copper coloured, small head. Sourish-hoppy aroma. Starts mild hoppy, notes of sourish apricot, more and more dry. Dusty finish. Okay.

American-style IPA with three hop variaties. Off-white, medium thick head, coppery colour, somewhat darker than usual for an IPA, practically clear. Aroma of grapefruit, passion fruit, caramel, spicy hops and orange peel. Sweetish onset, citrussy, malty, in the finish strong peppery hop bitterness as expected. Good IPA with pretty colour.

Draught at CBC 2014. Deep amber liquid with a small white head. Aroma of bread, butter, raw sugar and earth. Taste is dry and medium bitter with notes of butter. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Once again, diacetyl. Also, way too little hops for an IPA.

Sample from tap, CBC 2014. Hazy, amber-golden colour with a thin, white head. Fruity aroma with citrus, peach, resin, pines and caramel malts. Taste is bitter. Medium body with a nice creamy texture. Finishes dry and bitter with citrus, caramel malts, grape and sweet exotic fruits. Excellent, fresh IPA.

Keg at The Furnace, Derby, in company of Loz, Dad & Pauline. Saturday 22nd February 2014 Listed as Shiny v Brodies at The Furnace. Pours amber in colour perhaps a little red edge to it. Once this has warmed up a little you can start to pick up the aroma its nice with some pine resin, grapefruit and even a tropical side, crikey they have covered all bases here and by heck it is wonderfully hoppy on nose and in mouth. Some pithy grapefruit in mouth, nice body, pine and tropical flavours also showing. Great beer. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

Draft at Howl at the Moon, Hackney on 11 January 2014. Poured a cloudy red with a dense, white head and good lacing. Aroma of iodine, boiled sweets and mango. Melon, candy sugar and bitter grass on the initial flavours. Finish was bitter hop resin, pine needles and toffee.

Bottle. It’s a semi-clear, dark orange-golden beer with a dense, off-white to beige head of finger-thick size. The aroma has a meaty touch, but oranges and green pine cones are pulling the heaviest load. It’s bitter on the palate, with orange peel and pine cones, as well as maltyness in the back. Full-bodied and not too sweet, finishing mostly bitter. A tasteful and pleasant IPA well worth a revisit. 121130
