Rusty orange colour. Aroma is rather musty and yeasty. Flavour has light malt sweetness then very fresh tasting hops. There’s a little woody dryness in the finish. This is a beer to quench your thirst!

50 cl bottle @ home, BBE 27.10.2012
Aroma is slightly sweet with grainy malt and hints of hay. Flavour is slightly sweet and tart with grainy malt, some gooseberry bush, mint and hints of grapefruit. Good and typical kellerbier.

Hazy orange color, medium - sized white head. The taste is dominated by a mix of grain, fruit and caramel aromas. The aftertaste is very yeasty, dry, and long - lasting, which all works quite good for this beer.

Tap @ the Keller in Buttenheim. Hazy brown appearance with a nice cream colored head. Rich earthy, chewy yeasty, a bit spicy, fairly herbal aroma. Bready yeasty, herbal, floral, a little fruity, toasty malty, lightly nutty flavor. One of my all-time favorite German beers!

Brown flip-top bottle, 0.5 litre, best before 26th May 2010, drank Feb 2010. Poured robustly into my huge ’Judas’ glass. Fine dark amber colour, looks good with its off-white foaming head. The body was clear and clean looking. Malted biscuits smell, with a hint of earthiness, peat maybe? The malt feel carries on into the taste, a hop bitterness comes into play as the initial maltiness fades somewhat in the mouth. Well carbonated, almost fizzy to be honest, pleasant enough though.

500 ml bottle bought @ Systembolaget. Pours slightly hazy dark golden with a bubbly off-white head that leaves some trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is sweet and malty with tobacco, dark bread, caramel, dates, earthy herbs and hints of yeast. Taste is sweet, bitter and slightly metallic with bread, herbs, toffee, grass, wet earth and orange zest. Mouthfeel is tiny watery, soft and thin to medium bodied. Finish is slightly sweet and bitter with bread and green earth herbs. --- Beer merged from original tick of Buttenheimer Kellerbier on 01 Apr 2020 at 17:24. Original review text: Yesterday
