Adam is a recreation of a historic beerstyle. Originally made in Dortmunder, Germany, it was the first beer I produced when I opened Hair of the Dog. Rich in flavor, Adam is best served as a dessert beer. It is great with chocolate or cigars, or just a warm fire and good company.

Beavertown extravaganza. Hazy fruit and malt aroma. Booze too. Sweet. Boozy kick. Light to medium bodied. Sticky. Average carbonation. Abrupt finish. That's it. Rich.

Brown with little white head. Aroma is phneols, pudding, fermented orange. Taste is harsh spicy and bitter alcoholic. Too phenolic. Very harsh. To phenolic for me.

Bottle, at SinH4-5K-MoritzF-10K tasting. Pours very dark brown. Aroma is light scotch, caramel, orange. Body is medium, quite scotchy again, dark fruit, sweet and also bitter, with a very soft carbonation, silky. Balanced. Has a lot of super-infused Alt character. Good!

From old tasting notes. Labeled as "Hair of the Dog Adam Hearty Old World Ale". Translucent red, brown color. Big creamy tan head. Spicy, roasted malt flavor hints at peppercorns and licorice. WOW! Intense bittersweet roasted malt flavor has notes of treacle, crushed black pepper, cardamom and vanilla. Long bitter finish. Big clinging aftertaste. A big brew that is unique and interesting.

12 oz. bottle share, Batch #87. (2012). Nice rich brown color, small, but substantial beige head. Roast grains and chocolate, mildly sweet and a nice burn. Slick and slippery, just damn near perfect. Batch #73 (2018), still good. --- Beer merged from original tick of Adambier on 02 Aug 2021 at 06:11 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 9 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8.5. Original review text: Batch #2 bottle at share. This an old ale for sure. Really old. And it's held up remarkably weel. Sweet malts, leather, topbacco, musty and dusty, some sweet pit fruit notes. Such an honor to ahve gotten to try this.
