A collaboration between Bret & Eric Kuhnhenn and Erik Harms of Dragonmead, this beer truly defies categorization. This beer is not for the hopheads - this is an intense malt-bomb. Heathen starts off similar to a traditional German Doppelbock, then goes to 11... 12.5 actually. Rich malt notes persist with flavors and aromas reminiscent of candied fruits, Christmastime spices, and a touch of smokiness. Very little bitterness throughout with flavors that persist long after the swallow. If Doppelbock was known as "liquid bread," this Triple Bock is more like "Liquid Sandwich."

Tap at CBC 2014. Beer in the glass brownish, nice creamy head. Malty alcoholic aroma. Starts fiery malty, alcoholic, sharp, hints of caramel. Nice!

Bottle, Domus Birrae, Roma. Shared with Slothez, Superbowl session. Poured a deep dark reddy brown with a small fading beige head. Beak had notes of dark bread, malts, brown sugar booze and dark fruits. Taste was sweet malts, dark fruits and booze. Thinnish mouthfeel with limited carbonation. Pretty forgettable overall and the inflated price made it all the more disappointing. Expected more.

[5/3/14] Draught sample at Copenhagen Beer Celebration. 4th session. Amber. Alcoholic aroma, candy-ish, with malt, caramel, marzipan and some fruits. Sickly sweet flavor, alcoholic, malty, caramelly and candy-ish. Really not my thing.

Smakprov på CBC 2014. Smak och doft av malt, honung, röda bär, karamell, sirap, honung, farinsocker, nypon. Stor men lagom sötma. Välblanserad och mycket god.

Rötlichbraunes Bier mit geringer Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr süß malzig, überreife Früchte, alkoholisch, holzig, genauso ist auch der Geschmack.

Sample at CBC 2014. Poured a crystal clear dark amber with a big frothy light tan head. The aroma is sweet treacle toffee. The flavour is medium to light sweet with a rich sweet resin hop alcohol bitter palate. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

Riktigt god.

Odense catch-up from the cellar. 2011. Dark red chestnut colour with a tiny off-white head. Fabulous rich malt aroma with dark bread, biscuit, dried fruit and vineous alcohol. Disappointlingly thin and watery fruity and malty flavour, with plenty of alcohol
