A full-bodied, Amsterdam wheat beer that is dangerously ‘moreish’. Slightly cloudy, it has a beautiful golden colour and a soft, foamy head. When we brew IJwit, we use wheat malt as well as barley malt, which is also how the beer gets its name.

The wheat malt gives the beer a delightful, fresh flavour, and the addition of coriander and lemon during the brewing process produces a rich aroma of banana, citrus and spices. Topped off by a fine, slightly sweet aftertaste, IJwit is a delicious thirst-quencher.

33cl bottle at home on 15th Feb 2019. Poured into a Hoegaarden Grand Cru stemmed tulip glass. The white head soon did a runner, the body was slightly hazed and golden in colour. Highly carbonated beer, sweet wheaty/grainy aroma and taste overall. There are some interesting herbal and spicy notes within the nose and flavours, this is a complicated little brew; coriander is certainly in there somewhere along with a trace or too of citrus fruits. One of the best Witbier I have ever had.

Refrigerated 33 cL brown bottle, best before May 2019, poured into a cup. Hazy golden with medium white head. Aroma is light coriander, medium body, well carbonated, and small-bubble lacing. Taste is coriander and soft wheat esters.

Bottle from Amsterdam, in garden, 24th June 18. Pours a pretty much clear straw colour beer. Aroma is light yeast, straw, fresh some coriander. Taste is yeasty, citrus, bitter and sweet, light spice. Pretty tasty.

Flesje gekregen van Tomhendriksen. Goudgeel troebel bier. Geur is zuur en hooiachtig. Smaak is zuur en fruitig. Nasmaak is iets bitter.

150ml draught, beer flight, at Tap Zuid. Misty yellow body, white tophead, clingy lacing down the glass. Ripe fruity nose, hints of spices. Fresh taste profile of lemony hops and banana, moderately spiced with coriander. Mid-dry fruity ending. Fine depth. Decent version of the style. (Amsterdam 09.03.2018).

Fles thuis geprobeerd. Get is een gelig bier met een dun wit schuim. De geur is gistachtig. De smaak is moytig, gist en hibts van banaan?
