A full-bodied, Amsterdam wheat beer that is dangerously ‘moreish’. Slightly cloudy, it has a beautiful golden colour and a soft, foamy head. When we brew IJwit, we use wheat malt as well as barley malt, which is also how the beer gets its name.

The wheat malt gives the beer a delightful, fresh flavour, and the addition of coriander and lemon during the brewing process produces a rich aroma of banana, citrus and spices. Topped off by a fine, slightly sweet aftertaste, IJwit is a delicious thirst-quencher.

Bottle. Haven't had this since having it on tap at the brewpub. Pours light yellow, somewhat hazy. Aroma is malty, wheat, hoppy, bright, fruity. Medium body. Flavour is smooth and mild, malty and sweet. Estery but not too much. Good.

On tap at ‘t IJ, pours a cloudy bright golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of coriander upfront, with gentle wheat and a hint of sweetness. Flavour is semi-sweet, with coriander upfront, sweet bready malt, and light whispy wheat. Rather sweet for a wit, but the coriander is pleasant. Not interesting.

IJwit: aroma has grape sugar, citrus and vanilla. Strong vanilla flavor, in fact a bit too strong. Also grape sugar and grapefruit. I like the beers of ’t IJ and this is no exception. 9 4 7 3 15 = 3.8 Scharrelijwit: Light orange color, hazy. Aroma has spices and some citrus. Sweet flavor with anis, vanilla and licorice. Bitter aftertaste with yeast.

RB backlog. Smells delicious - tangy spice, yeast esters, zesty. Light to medium sweetness throughout, with zesty, tangy overtones, a hint of good bitterness and spices in the finish. Slick medium body, active but not too hard carbonation. Delicious.
