Delicious. Full on coffee. Choco. Funny, I’ve had half a dozen Perennial beers but not their most famous...

Pitch black pour with a tall tan head, slow to rise to the surface (the perfect-looking stout, as far as I'm concerned). Notes of brewed coffee, toffee, roasted malt, subtle licorice, cacao nibs, some green hops, very subtle berries. Simple, but very well balanced, well-rounded and complete beer. Delicious stuff, quite a bit better than regular Sump, which is a solid beer, as well.

Coffee, lots of roasty coffee. Creamy and thick, rich and smooth. Nice.

Bottle, 750 ml as Sump 2018. Black with brownish head. Lots of coffee, roasted, chocolate, dense, nice bitterness in finish. Medium to full bodied.

2014 bottle. The beer pours inky black with a medium foamy tan head that diminishes gradually to a film. Patches of lacing. Aroma of roasted coffee, malt, chocolate and hops. Full-bodied with flavors of roast coffee, fudge, malt, earthy hops and a bit of anise. The finish is roasty with a coffee and malt aftertaste. Good beer all around.
