Location: 22 oz bottle from Total Wine-McLean, 2/8/13
Aroma: The nose is Belgian yeast and spice, with caramel malts, fruity hops, and a little grass
Appearance: A clear, bright orange colored beer with a very thin head and some light, drippy lace
Flavor: The flavor of this one is much like the nose, it is yeasty, spicy, malty, fruity, and hoppy
Palate: The body is medium, it has a little too much carbonation, some stickiness, and a dryish finish
Overall Impression: This one works pretty well. Neither the Belgian yeast/spice or the fruity/grassy hops really dominates like you often find in these Belgian hybrid IPAs. Overall, I thought the combination worked quite nicely here.

650ml bottle. Cloudy orangey dark golden colour, some chunks floating around, with average, firm, frothy, lasting, lacing, white head. Complex aroma has IPA-typical hoppy and caramel malty notes, grapefruit, resin, a touch of citrus; additionally notes of vegetables, aniseed, salami. Taste delivers a mixture of similar notes, slightly sweet, herbal, with biting bitter hop that is more felt on the lips than tasted on the palate. Not bad, but I would be nosey to have devoid of the "Abbey Belgian-style".

Bottle, 22oz. A dense, off-white head of moderate size sits on top of a clear, golden body. The aroma has a nice IPA-style hoppyness, with some Belgian-style sugary maltyness, as well as a generic fruityness. Orange-peel, white sugar, pine cones, pale malts, candy hints, spiced notes and resins. The flavor is quite sweet, like a double IPA should be, but in a more Belgian style white sugar way. Bitterness, fruityness, pine cones, resins, some grass and flowers and a faint spiced yeastyness. Full body, pleasant carbonation. Lasting bitter and sweet finish. A really wonderful DIPA, sure shows that it’s perfectaly possible to blend a DIPA with Belgian yeast. 121124
