New rating: 0.33 l bottle sampled during Pampus tap takeover at ’HOPPA!’, 2016 version, best before end 2017. Black with a frothy, brown head. Roasty-malty, just slightly fruity aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, burnt nuts and hints of mango. Roasty-malty, slightly fruity taste of coffee, dark chocolate, burnt nuts and hints of mango, followed by a medium long, roasty-bitter finish. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel. Not a huge difference to the ’aged’ 2014 version, a tad more fruity but also a bit roastier and drier, overall less a of Black IPA than their ’Hoppy Stout’. Old rating: 0.33 l bottle from ’Tabak’s Wijndiscount & Bierwinkel’, best before end 2016 (apparently the 2014 version, 2016 version was actually already in the stores...). Clear, very dark red to black with a thin, frothy, stable, brown head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty aroma of milk chocolate, coffee beans, vanilla and hazelnut, hops are barely detectable. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty taste of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee beans and hazelnut, followed by a short, roasty-bitter, minimally hoppy-fruity finish. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, flat. With some age, this is a very nice stout/porter. Will try to find a fresh example to compare. (7/4/7/3/14/3.5)

(Keg at Gastropub Tuulensuu, 20151230) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had ash, pine and mildly fruitiness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were pine, liquorice, burnt malts, ash and bitterness. Aftertaste had ash, liquorice and bitterness. A decent black IPA but too burnt.
