In our effort to make a tripel a bit more exciting than most examples out there, we decided to spice it like a Thai dish. Lemongrass, Galangal root, coriander, orange peel and chilli pepper blend in with some exotic latehops in this tripel.

Bottle, 8%. Weak fruity aroma with a whiff of black pepper. Cloudy golden colour. Big stable white head. The flavour starts off with a mild vanilla note, like from a hop. There is also a little fresh baking yeast. Clean finish, and not that spicy, I think.

Clear golden. Aroma is light belgian yeast spices, some coriander, untoasted toast malt. Taste is full bodied floral yeast spices with some bitter touch. No trace of the chili. Also nothing that doesn't say normal triple... Quite disappointing.

Bottled. Hazy yellow colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is spices, some citrus, sweet malts and mild alcohol. Flavour is alcohol, some spices, yeast and mild sweet malts and citrus. Smooth still. A bit different thinking here.

On tap at Oedipus, pours a hazy dull golden with a small white head. Aroma is spicy, with Belgian yeast esters, and pretty faint notes of lemongrass, galangal and chili pepper. Flavour is gently spicy, with subtle lemongrass and galangal, even subtler chilli, all wrapped up in the Belgian yeasty esters without being too chaotic or estery. Good stuff.

Small, just off-white head over hazy, finely carbonated yellow beer. Spicy nose, indeed exotic spices. I seem to get ginger, galangaroot, holy basil, some limepeel, maybe coriander. Sweet-spicy. Some faint chili, and again exotic rootspices, citrus, faint coriander. Not very well-bodied, seems to have some acid(?)thinning. Despite the spices, it remains pretty easy drinkable. Original. But I'm not raving about it. I'd rather have a good Thai dish with an IPA alongside.

Bottle. Pours hazy lightish straw with stable white head. Clear aroma of fruit and citrus, with hoppy and estery touches. Bitter flavour of lemongrass and hops, with sweet notes of tropical fruit and touches of pepper, yeast and malt. Spicy and estery aftertaste with malty and fruity touches. A noce one, quite tasty and satiating.
