A black beer with a dense, medium and brown head. The nose is roasted with coffee, lots of chocolate-banana ice-cream, some peppermint, also some familiar candies. Taste has balanced roastiness, coffee, chocolate, some bananas, nice sweetness, hint of freshness of peppermint. Chocolate in the end. Full bodied, low carbonation, very smooth to drink, not sticky. Beer with the very unique flavours, maybe even too weird. Anyway, good beer for smooth enjoyment.

Pitch black colour, tan head. Bit of a gusher. Aroma of coffee, bit sour, red fruits, berries, light sour, peach, alcohol, roasted malts and vanilla. Sweet alcoholic flavour, bitter, bitter black coffee, cacao, ash and bitter herbs. Quite fizzy. Finish liquorice, coffee, ash, milk chocolate and dates.

Aroma: sour berries and roasted notes. Flavor: very rich and thick flavor. Sour berries, roasted coffee and fruity bitterness. Mouthfeel is creamy and warm. With a oily aftertaste. Color: pitch black with a light brown head.

Bottle from Willems. Black with a lasting brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, coffee, wood and berries. Flavor is very sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish. Oily. 130914

Bottle shared at Max’s Belgian fest. Gusher. Black color, dark brown head. Aroma of sourdough brownies with chocolate sauce. Taste has vanilla, chocolate, sour plums, raisins, silky mouthfeel.

75cl Bottle, tfs JulienHuxley! Black colour, short-lived brown head. Aroma of hard-roasted malts, ash, currants, blackberries, chocolate, some coffee. Flavour is tart from both the black malts and berries, light fruity, ash, chocolate, bitter finish. Almost full-bodied. Not easy to drink. Struise doesn’t do it for me anymore. Underwhelming, over-priced.

750 ml bottle shared with JulienHuxley, Borresteijn & caesar @ Julien’s Klein Maar Fijn tasting - tfs Julien! Black color. Brownish head, completely disappearing after some time. Aroma’s: roasted malts, umami. Sweetness, alcohol roast, fruit/berries retronasal. Flavor is moderate sweet, berries, roasted. Strong alcohol feel. Medium to full bodied. Long finish, roasted, rather dry, light to moderate bitter.

Bottled thx to Julien @ Julien’s neighbour is a metalhead according to Rob-tasting, small sample. Dark color, short head. Aroma of lots of blackberries, blackcurrant, roasted malts, spicy yeast esters. Quite bitter in taste mostly from the malts and the berries, quite fruity as well. Heavy on the stomach. Ok stuff, but blackberries dont seem to be my favorite.

Bomber shared by Marcus. Pours dark brn/blk with a transient, fizzy, tan head. Aroma is hugely dark treacle, dark fruit and suggesting cola. Med body. Flavor is aroma with coffee and an emphasis on the chocolate. Finish is dark malt with complex flavor accents. Delicious.

Bottle from De Hopduvel. Beautiful black colour, dark brown foam. Medium carbonation. Full body. Complex aroma of roasted malts and coffee with remarkable fruitiness (berries, peach). Well balanced, sweet and heavy bitter aftertaste. Good!
