750ml bottle pour at Max’s Belgian Fest 2014. Pours an inky black with some thin, white head. Nose of berry, booze, a little gasoline, malt, licorice. Flavor has some acid, malt, cracker, rubber, pencil lead, smoke, light cherry, slight spice. Oily finish.

Bottle shared. Pours near black with a small tan head. Aroma of roast, yeast, fruit and eark chocolate. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle share at Kernel thanks to Matteo. Aroma is classic struise yeast character with peach and apriot. Then roast and choc and a touch of bourbon. Flavour is big dry roast coffee, peach and apricot yeast esters, light veg. Velvety palate, full body with nice lifting carbonation.

Bottle shared at The Kernel, London - massive thanks to Matteo for this one. It looks great first of all: black, with a big, lasting mocha froth cap. The aroma holds dark berries and rich chocolate. Medium to heavy sweet flavo with some burnt wood, cherry, raspberry, balanced chocolate. Medium to full in body with fine carbonation. Sweet finish with burnt dark chocolate, dark fruits. Flavorful and nicely balanced.

Bottle thanks to Matteo, shared at the Kernel. It pours jet black with a thick tan head. The nose is rich roast, vinous, earth, cocoa, peach, tart apricot, chocolate and tangy green apple. The taste is roasted malt, mild acidity, earth, coffee grinds, chocolate, rich, treacle, tart green apple, vanilla and sherbet with a dry, roasty finish. Well-hidden alcohol. Full body and fine carbonation. Smooth and rich. Pretty tasty.

Borefts Beer Festival 5. Day 2. Bottle generously shared by IluvatarMilan - cheers mate! Opaque black beer, little pale tan head. Softish airy palate, semi dry. Rich but light dark malts. Peachy sweetness. Tiny bit of rum blends well with the dark malts. There is an overall lightness that makes this one of the more approachable Black Alberts. Good stuff.

Bottle shared at Borefts ’13, massive thanks to Milan for this rare Struise number, 28/09/13. Mid black with a thin tan head that dissipates edgeward. Nose is roast malt, liqourice, cocoa, dark fruit, earthy. Taste comprises cocoa, peach, oaky wood, light booze, brown sugars. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation. Decent impy but certainly no improvement on the base beer.
