Goed bier.

33cl bottle. Golden coloured with a large, frothy and white head that quickly diminishes in a thin layer. Aroma is sweet, slightly malty and alcoholic. Flavour is caramelish, syrup hints, very sweet at the beginning and maintained in the aftertaste. also honey traces are present. Carbonation is lively at the beginning, soft in general. Body is medium. Texture is oily.

Apparently all the new Lebanese supermarkets in Kinshasa are stocking this stuff. How’s that for international? I pour it into a hand-crafted Kasaï chalice I picked up in Kananga: massive head, hard to tell what the body looks like, probably orangey or something. The aroma, that which isn’t overpowered by the wood from the chalice, is sweet alcohol-adjunct with a hint of hops and Belgian sugars. Flavour is strong hops notes which drowns out the alcohol quite well; the mouthfeel is also somewhat watery, surprising for such a strong brew. For a strong beer, it delivers and it tastes all right.

Bottle. Hazy amber colour with a beige head. Fresh fruity/citric nose. Well balanced fruity and hoppy aroma with almost no taste of alcohol.

Golden beer with big and blond head. Aroma is complex and exhilarating, lots of fresh fruits, yeast and herbs. Taste is also fruitfull, lots of peppers, herbal dry hops, some warming alcohol and overally taste is quite dry. With yeast flavours are more fruitfull, and peppery is more controlled, also alcohol is disappeared; definedly this beer is better with yeast. Medium bodied with lot of carbonation. Fresh and spicy beer, where herbs and peppers are on the stage, but still fruitness balanced to overall nuancees; tight, but tastefull beer.

Note: the beer has been aged for over a year.
Cloudy dark yellow beer, white creamy adhesive stable head. Aroma: hops, spices, pepper, alcohol (hard to disguise). MF: soft carbon, full body. TAste: hops, sweet malts, spices and warming alcohol. Aftertaste: a little sweet, hops, pepper and citrus. Not bad, but a young version would not score so high.

Bottle looks simple, but good. Beer in the glass very zippy, huge head. Starts strong, a bit alcoholic-soapy, fruity like peaches. More and more spicy. Finish still soapy-sharp, still fruity. Nice!

Pale gold with a thick white head. High bead. Mostly clear with a few particles. Orange blossom aroma with grass and cloves. Fruity sweetness has candied oranges, apricots and vanilla before striking drying grassy bitterness. Quite noticeable alcohol. No great depth but a nice firm brut Champagne-like finish.
