Ale brewed with fig juice. A traditional style named for John Darby, preacher of temperance whose parishioners were oddly moved by a "soft drink" they insisted was just fig juice...

Bottle shared at home w Jorge. Heavy sweetness meets weird fruit acidity and some tannins, not sure if it works for me. Full disclosure is that I was hoping and waiting for a saison, so it's partly on me I guess?

Bottle at home. Not sure what grabbed me about this to force purchase but my whims are what they are. Light yellow orange and small soapy head. Nose is lively lemony Bret and some grass. Tastes yeasty, and some fruity notes maybe fig because that what’s on my mind from reading about it, lemons, grassy, Sauvignon blanc. Refreshing. Enjoyable and nice change of pace to what I’m normally having.

pours a cloudy light brown/caramel color. Aroma is slightly sour, and a little like a lambic, i’m getting some fruit, but its sour fruit. Flavour is sour, and slightly fruity. NOt sure i’m getting much fig in here, the funk is comming through, definitely an interesting beer.

Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Aroma is estery Saison yeast, pale malt, ripe fruity notes including some pear, apple, fleshy stone fruits and citrus. Flavour is moderate sweet and light bitter. Body is medium. Nice beer, Belgian yeasty elegance.

On tap at a ridiculously packed Sovereign. Clear, pale honey gold, light froth. Strong floral & paradise nose. Taste is delicate floral sweetness, mellow honey, long coriander, white grape, touch of creme & white pepper. Weak backbone. Frothy & soft mouth feel. Just okay.

Bottle shared at new years eve. Murky. Rather sweet, oily. Maybe I should have tried this one first and not the sour one.

7/12/2024. Bottle bought at Beautiful Beers, Bury St Edmunds. Pours clear bright copper amber with a very short lasting frothy head. Aroma is figgy, stone fruits, citrus, flowers, dried fruits, perfumed edge. Quite sweet with an odd bitterness. Moderate body, quite fizzy. A little odd and underwhelming.
