Ale brewed with fig juice. A traditional style named for John Darby, preacher of temperance whose parishioners were oddly moved by a "soft drink" they insisted was just fig juice...

Bottle drunk with Schollenfilet. Clear gold, small fast disappearing head. Slightly sweet nose with fruity hints. Tart flavor, mild sourness with a complex backbone of light caramel and yeasty esters. Excellent with the breaded Scholle!

Panda at home, thanks to the Wingmane, 29/07/21. Moderately hazed orange to light amber with little in the way of a head. Nose is tangy fruit rinds, quince, figgy jam, straw, grains. Taste comprises quince paste, figs, sweet notes, orange jelly, grass, light herb, mellow yeast esters. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Not bad.

375ml bottle from Sophie's Beer Store. Misty golden yellow, large white head. Bears a lovely spritz, really bringing to life the farmhouse saison character with a curious sweetness from the figs. Super refreshing. A proper saison and no mistake.

Bottle. Nose is funky, straw, hint of lemon, slight tart note, straw. Taste is malty, straw, hint of lemon, funk, dough, hints of spice and herbal hops. There's a light fruity character which is more apple than fig to my taste, though I could get more fig in the finish as it opened up. Perfectly balanced, with a pleasingly dry finish. A strange beer, that took my a while to begin to enjoy, but once it 'clicked' it really was a treat.

Recently expired. Exploding bottle, but not going over. Smell-weak, Belgian, herbal, caramel, hops, interesting. Foam- head is small, white color. Generally thin, herbal, weak hops, weak sour notes, grass, maybe hops, and malt. Appearance- coked bottle, simple label. Clear yellow amber, some active carbonation. Some haze from sediment appears later. From - snifter Taste - herbal, weak bitter notes, weak sweetness, and very faint sourness. Not bad, interesting for one try. Fizzy. After some time it gets a bit worse, so I reduced the score.
