The world needs heroes, and in our home state of Florida only a very special hero will do. A hero with a shark tooth around his neck, a Grim Reaper tattoo on his arm, and a rap sheet longer than his mama’s mustache. A hero who’s forgotten more about amateur taxidermy and alligator rasslin’ than you’ll ever know. What better way to pay tribute to our beloved Florida Man than with a big ol’ Double India Pale Ale brewed with a nearly-criminal amount of hops and a moderate bitterness that just about matches Florida Man’s general disposition. This hopped-up whopper of a beer is big in character and guaranteed to sear itself into your memory, just like “the world’s worst superhero,” Florida Man.

Hazy straw color with a medium thin white head that burns away quickly to a film. Short strings of lace. Aroma of piney hops, citrus and malt. Medium body with flavors of resiny hops, grapefruit and bready malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a piney hop aftertaste. Decent overall.

Can at home. A bit unclear yellow color, white head. Aroma and flavor are lightly malts, pineapple, pineapple hoppy bitters, somewhat resinous, nicely bitter. Decent to medium body and carbonation. Quite alright.

Picked up at Kyoto Isetan for about 550¥ Cigar City Florida Man Double IPA 8% Golden color verging towards orange with a thick head of foam and a pungent woodsy almost oaky aroma. The taste is sweet malts with that Smokey oak stage type of flavor that almost makes me feel it was barrel aged. Quite a smooth brew.

Surprisingly off-key pint from Cigar City, overly sweet to the point of being cloy, with a moderate pineapple-grapefruit-lemondrop front followed by a huge wave of residual sugar. Bitterness clashes mightily with all this lingering corn-syrupy goop. These guys are masters of IPAs; no clue what happened here.

Baby blue can from Market District. Pours a thicker slightly hazy pale brew. Smell is rude cloying sweet IPA. Head goes craggy. Taste is big fat wallop of inner tube rubber, pine tar, spruce needles and fermetning rotting green grapefruit rinds all blended together with a few drops of hand soap. Terribly on style. Rude ass mah fah. Leaves quite an impression on yah. Long bitter lingering finish that ruins your taste buds for hours to come.

12 oz can enjoyed at the studio. Right from the can. Nice imperial, full of ripe fruit flavor. Creamy body. Smooth taste. Barely sweet. Really enjoyable. I'm still just stoked to be enjoying Cigar City in Seattle. My usual vacation brewery and now I can have it at home. Easy drinking imperial. Well done.
