A good idea, but the execution is lacking. Starts with strong notes of caramel, cocoa, dark fruit, and coffee, with toasted bread and a little nuttiness underneath. Grows overly oaky and bitter on the back end, yet never gains much whiskey character beyond vanilla-tinged woodiness. Finishes dry, and the whiskey is lacking.

Can/Fest. A- Coffee, roasty, bitter, slightly earthy, mild booze. A- Brown red color, clear liquid, beige head. T- Coffee, caramel, smooth. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Nice beer. I figured this was a stout at first smell but the nice caramel notes helped pull that scotch ale base through just enough. Certainly coffee forward and a unique idea. Really liked this beer and what it had going on. Why haven't more breweries made coffee scotch ales. I love this.

Bottle shared at La Muerta release. Pours a very dark brown with small tan head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is roast, smoke, cocoa, wood. Medium body, cocoa, roast, molasses, boozy finish, good.

Bottle shared by Lakerfan16: Poured a caramel with brown orange with no head. Loads of coffee in the nose. Taste is coffee and roasted malts.
