Bottle from Signal Variety in Plaistow NH. Aroma is strong pumpkin and associated spices--nutmeg, cinnamon. Color is dark brown--almost black with insignificant transient tan head fading quickly to a ring but with evident sparkle and nice lacing. Taste is mainly sweet pumpkin flavor with spices in aroma plus hint of anise. Palate is medium to full body with thick texture and lively carbonation (a little too much, especially for a porter) with a fairly abrupt finish. Overall, I like the pumpkin being used in a porter--not your average pumpkin beer. This is a pretty average porter but would be a great Spice/Herb/Vegetable beer if classified that way.

Bottle sample at a tasting at zvsn’s place. Thanks zvsn. Dark brown to black with a tan head. Aroma of pumpkin, winter spices, malt, caramel and a bit of chocolate. Sweetish flavor, roasty, with chocolate, pumpkin, spices, malt, a coffee hint and a dry finish. Medium-bodied. Decent.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 7/31/2014. Pours crystal clear very dark brown color with a 2 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, gingerbread, brown sugar, herbal, and roast/spice earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast malt, pumpkin, spices, and light herbal hop notes; with good strength. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, gingerbread, brown sugar, herbal, and roast/spice earthiness. Slight roast/spice bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, gingerbread, brown sugar, and roast/spice earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and complexity of dark/roasted malt, pumpkin, spices, and light herbal hop flavors; with a great malt/spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, moderately creamy, and slightly chalky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice pumpkin spiced porter. All around good robustness, balance, and complexity of dark/roasted malt, pumpkin, and spice flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle from Brewcraft at home. Opaque black pour with thin white head. Aroma is pumpkin pie + porter...cinnamon and nutmeg plus roasted flavors. Taste is similar - but more generic porter with cinnamon and nutmeg. Body is normal light porter. Finish is pumpkin pie like - but more like artificial pumpkin pie flavor. Interesting but not a repeat.

Bottle at Zoo Brew. Pours a dark brown with a white head that dissipates to the edges quickly. Aroma has chalky roasted malts with some dark grains and just a hint of pumpkin and spice. Flavor has roasted malts with a bit of dark grain and a hint of spice in the finish.

Dark brown color with creamy head. Some aroma of old times vegetable soup, roasted malt, spices. Lean mouthfeel, with chocolate and caramel flavor, lightly roasty, with moderate spice contribution, and low bitterness. Some vegetables too, celery.
Nice.

Pour is a very dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is roasty malts with some spice. Flavor is an equally nice roasted malt with some cinnamon and spice. Finish is thin but has enough spice to be noticeable. Not great but a pumpkin porter is something different.

A little late on this, sorry. Obviously, reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a dark brown color with a decent one finger white to off white foamy head that when it dissipated there was a pretty nice looking foamy lacing drastically sticking very nicely to the sides of the glass.
The smell had a pretty good blend of spiced pumpkin, ginger, allspice and a light dose of cinnamon. Once it starts to warm, there’s a nice roasty change coming through.
The taste was mainly sweet and roasty with a slight spice underneath through all of the previously mentioned flavors.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. The carbonation finishes fairly easy.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good Porter for the Autumn season. This could definitely stand up against the anti - inbev people.
