Bottle from Total Wines, Sterling VA. Dark brown with a short-lived, off-white head. Spicy pumpkin, cinnamon and ginger warmth, before some sweetness and lingering, roasty finish. Good.

Sample at Kurtkeller 001: Pumpkin-tastic 01 on 11/22/2013. Dark mahogany pour with a medium tan head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of nutmeg and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of cinnamon, roast malt and pumpkin spice. The finish is sweet with spices and mild malt in the aftertaste. Decent overall.

12 ounce bottle from Downtown Wine & Gourmet, Harrisonburg. Pours a clear dark brown with red tints. Medium sized frothy tan head, decent head retention. Aroma of chocolate, pumpkin, roast, ginger, other herbal and vegetal notes. The taste is roasted malts, maple, chocolate, pumpkin, mild spices in the finish. Thin-medium bodied, strong carbonation.

12oz bottle pours with a nice rich looking mahogany body that has gold to copper edges and supports a tan head. The modest aroma offers up some dark roasted malts, burnt malts and then a mild pumpkin and spice sensation. The taste starts with a nice yet slim nugget of pumpkin and then it quickly picks up cinnamon to nutmeg spices before a hit of dark roasted malts and burnt malts takes this to midway and into the roasty finish. Darn nice stuff.

Bottle. Dark brown with a thin head. Aroma is pumpkin and some spice. Flavour is mostly cinnamon and nutmeg, a little watery pumpkin. Overall a bit watery, and strange.

One of the better pumpkin seasonals I’ve tried. Dark and nutty, nutmeg, cinnamon and pumpkin pie, chocolate and coffee. Rich, full taste, with a short nutty finish.

Bottle from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours extremely darkly ruddy with orange glints and a transient beige head. Moderate pie spice aroma. Full bodied. Flavor is halfway pie spice, followed by a quick transition to somewhat smoky/roasty dark malt. It’s well done, but it lacks the spice to be an out of sight pumpkin, and the spice tends to obscure the typical chocolate in a porter. As to the maple syrup, I don’t have a clue. It does grab the mouth in a spicy manner, so it’s not a shy ale. Drinks very nicely.

Bottle at home in CT. pours clear, dark brown with a quickly fading tan foam head. The aroma has cinnamon, all spice, ripe pumpkin. Light to medium sweet flavor, simple dark malts, some chocolate, more seasonal spices. Light to medium bodied with fine, fizzy carbonation. Sweet finish, minimal bitterness, some chalky cocoa, pumpkin puree, cinnamon, nutmeg. Tasty beer.
