A blend of a mature and young ale creates a porter of traditional character that’s dark cherry in colour and complex in taste. Aromas of liquorice, rum, raisin and chocolate with hints of coffee are in abundance in this full-bodied, warming ale.

Biggish beige shiny head. Barely translucent dark red body. Sugary caramelly aroma with wooden licorice notes, very harmonic. Dry-sweetish milky licorice taste with roasty resiny notes. Thinnish body. Mild mouthfeel. Dry watery metallic roasty licorice aftertaste. Quite nice, but slightly watery. Could use a bit more body. Should probably be served at room temperature for best results. (0.5l bottle, Olympen, Oslo.)

[bottle] Dark ruby colour with a beige medium-sized foamy head. Moderately sweet and roasted malty aroma with chocolate, licorice and a touch of mocha, accompanied by a shy and fruity, slightly spicy hoppy touch. Moderately bitter flavour, medium to light bodied with an almost crispy carbonation. Slightly burnt malty taste with licorice, coffee and subtle dark berry-fruity notes; moderately dry roasty bitter finish. Quaffable Porter, that might lack a bit body [13.XII.08].

The British brewers always seem to have really cool bottles and this one is no exception. It pours dark brown with semi firm mocha head. It has a mild yet spot on aroma with rich roasty malts drifting into burnt malts. The taste is very similar to the nose starting with mild malt astringency before rich roasted malts, mild caramel and mild burnt malts build to midway. Into the finish chocolate malts are noticed as the burnt malts build to a tepid level and overtake the flavor.

Poured a tea leaf brown with a old soft bubbly fast leaving head. Aroma was kinda musty malt with some sweet sugar. The taste was flat not as sweet as I expected and was lacking a bit.
