500ml bottle. Very dark brown/mahogany colour, almost black, with a one finger tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, biscuity, hint of coffee and dark chocolate. Taste of roasted malt, dark fruit, caramel, some bitter coffee notes in the finish. Lovely creamy texture, well balanced, soft carbonation. Really nice porter.

Bottle 500 ml. Brown color, good creamy foam. Aroma: fruity, plum, caramel, malty. Taste: caramel, fruit, plum, diacetyl, sweet, not bad.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Cigarette City. Aroma is roasted malt, toffee. Appearance is dark, dark mahogany--almost black--with finger-width light brown head with poor retention but decent lacing. Taste is roasted malt with dark fruits and toffee, hint of bitter coffee at end. Palate is medium bodied with creamy, thick texture, soft carbonation and mostly bitter, dry finish. Overall, a decent amount going on and a nice change from American-style porters.

Appearance: very dark brown clear colour, some little head which dissipates quickly. Some carbonation is visible albeit not a lot. Aroma: very nice, complex aroma, intense nutty aroma and very biscuity. Complex old ale character is noticeable. Caramel and chocolate notes. Very nice. Flavour: rather mild but complex. Nutty and a bit spicy, some biscuit malt. Some hops shines through as does some bitterness but only very mildly. Really great porter.

Pours dark ruby, almost black color with practically no head. Smell is mostly roasted malts and coffee. A bit cake-like. Medium body with regular carbonation and a bit watery texture. Taste is mostly bittersweet with bitternes coming mostly from alcohol, giving this beer a slightly boozy aftertaste. Aroma of dark fruits and berries, roasted malts, coffe beans, cake and alcohol. Slightly smoked. Finish is a bit dry with bitternes lingering on the tongue. Overall, very nice.

Deep dark ruby brown colour, good frothy light tan head, diminishing slowly, good lacing. Roasted malt aroma, coffee, cocoa, caramel. Taste medium sweet and bitter, caramel, chocolate. Light to medium body, watery to oily texture, average carbonation. Rather thin mild bittersweet aftertaste, chocolate notes, a ’light’ porter, lacks body but despite that pleasant to drink, a kind of session porter.

Eines muss man den Briten zugestehen: Sie brauen ein ordentliches Porterbier. Dieses angeblich nach einem alten Rezept gebraute Bier hat eine schöne Auwahl an Röstaromen; verknüpft mit starken Kakao und dunkler Schokolade. Ein wirklich schönes, ausgewogenes und vollmundiges Porter-Ber ohne eine Anbiederung an ein Stout.

As with every other St Peter’s beer, comes in a beautiful bottle (I’d rather say flask). Dark brown, almost black, with ruby shades. Tan head. Aroma is low but nice: coffee, liquorice. Thin body. Soft and creamy, metallic on the tongue, bitter finish.
