Picked this up on a whim. 12 oz bottle into a Sam Adams pint glass. Pours a mostly clear deep reddish gold with a smallish off white head that doesn’t stick around very long. Aromas of light sugar, spicy wheat, and a hint of cherry tartness. The flavor follows the aroma, its a light tart spicy beer. Medium body with a moderate to high level of carbonation and a slick tart mouthfeel. Not too shabby, nothing earth shattering, but pleasant and flavorful enough to enjoy.

Part of their "Expressionist Collection", now under the name "Short Straw - Farmhouse Red Ale". Enjoyed in Vegas. Pour a clean deep amber colour with an off-white head, good retention and thick creamy lace. Actually a nice different scent with mild wheat, bananas, lemon sourness, hoppy soap perfumes and light roasted grains. The darker malts are in the taste as well, and milder, with light caramel, sourness, berries, coffee, chocolate and the soapy hops. An interesting blend of red ale, Flemish sour and fruit ale. I have to admit that I do like this one.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours clear copper with a slight beige head. Aroma is fruit, malt, chocolate, spice. All mild tho. Med body, or nearly. Somehow the mix of flavors isn’t working right. Reminding me of an age old candy bar I didn’t really like very much. Never stopped me then, but it might now. There’s fruit and pepper and chocolate in the finish. Some citrus, I guess. But comparing this to a Flanders Red? Well maybe it is a bit tart. Still.

Clear Red Amber Color, Medium Head, Decent Lacing. Nice Sweet Coriander Aroma. Taste of Vegetables, Reminds Me Of Pumpkin Beer without Spices. Slightly Sour. Medium Body, Over Carbonated. Might Be OK for the style, appreciate attempt from Blue Moon / Coors. Smell is the best Thing Going For This Brew. Drinkable but it is not something That I’ll try again... Pass It...

Rich amber coloured body with a slight ruby and orange tinted highlight, all with a small, two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of hay, grass, alcohol, toasted malt, raisins and a bit of yeast - not great, but not horrible. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong toasted malt flavours with a big hit of cardboard, funky malt and a little sweetness. Aftertaste mainly shows the flawed malt character and a bit of sweetness, some hay and yeast flavours and not much else. Overall, not such a great beer with more funky notes than strong flavourful ones. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased and pulled from a Blue Moon Sampler Pack, purchased at Giant in Arlington, Virginia, sampled after a hockey game on 09-October-2013. Thanks Kevin!

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks beerandbeyond. Clear amber. Spicy aroma with some malt, a light tart note and fruity notes. Sweetish flavor with caramel, fruitiness, mild tartness and a bit of spiciness. Medium-bodied.

Not a bad beer considering its origin. Pleasant sweet citrus aroma. Flavour is confused, but the hibiscus comes through. Light bit of pepper and malt in the finish. Good cheap.

Overall Impression: This certainly isn't the worst thing Blue Moon has made. The nose doesn't make a great first impression, but the flavor is alright. Overall, it's nothing good, and that's nothing surprising.

Rated two nights ago up camping. 12 oz bottle from the Summer variety pack. Aroma consists of wet dog, metal, vague fruitiness. Pours clear copper with a medium dissipating off-white head. Taste is lightly sweet, lightly tart (4/10 on a sour scale), wheaty, spices (cinnamon? nutmeg?). Mouthfeel is creamy, body medium. From the aroma, I thought this was going to be another Blue Moon stinker. The flavor was a nice surprise, though. Not too bad.
