Farmhouse Ales were brewed for the diligent farmhands who drew the short straw and had to work the arduous harvest. Our brewmaster’s expression blends the spiciness of a Farmhouse Ale with the tartness of a Flanders Red for a remarkably refreshing finish.

Pours reddish with an inch of quickly shrinking head. Smells of metals and malt, with some added sweetness. Flavor is similar. Not bad, but nothing to write home about.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear dark amber with a red hue and two fingers of light khaki head. Aroma of straw and hay with cotton candy and green grapes. Taste is medium sweet and light tart. Grapes and candied sugar. Light bodied with a slightly sticky texture. Luvely carbonation and a surprisingly long finish. Overall, not bad. Probably one of the better blue moon brews ive had.

12 oz bottle from my daughter’s sampler pack. Nose is caramel, sweetness, corriander spiciness, and a very slight yeasty tartness. Clear copper orange with a medium, lightly lacing beige head. Flavor is lightly sweet, lightly tart, with a slight hint of funkiness.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy orange-amber color with a large foamy orange-tan head that lingered and left great lacing. The aroma was orange, musty, cola and yeasty. The flavor was tart and dryish with notes of orange, lemon, touches of yeast and must and a hint of red wine. Medium length tart and dry citrus, must and red wine. Medium body. Decent.

12 oz. bottle. Dark copper color, with a small to medium, beige head. Light fruitiness (grapes - light tannins, and maybe some cherries), cheese, sourdough, and bananas. Sweet flavor, with very faint sourness and mustiness. Medium body, sticky, flat, and lightly acidic. Overall, this is a mediocre beer. Very mild and unassertive, leaving me with a lot of hints of what this beer could be, but not much of what it is.

On 12/11/2014 today I was fooled into buying this again because of a slight change in name on the label. Yes fooled into thinking it was going to be a fun tart beer, but simply disappointed again, go figger. . OLD RATING: Right from the bottle, who knows, maybe BM is the next Saranac. Yes, there is some straw in there but it does have a bit of that big bmc attitude to it. I don’t even know why it mentions flanders red on the label, no tartness of that nature exists on the palate. Just guessing on the color.

Pours clear, dark red/wood with a short,heavy tan head. Aroma is highly malted, fruited. Taste is malt, a little chocolate, nuts, fruit. Sugar, peppery spice. Not bad.

12oz bottle. Filtered copper-red body, fast rising factory carbonation bubbles. Thin, steady, patchy head. Some pleasant sour cherry vinegar in the aroma. I find hibiscus to be quite an unfortunate brewing ingredient, which gives it flowery, filmy body that I find unenjoyable. It is still pretty centered in Flemish Sour territory flavorwise, with a nice soured woody cherry tinge among the really easy, smooth malt tones. Weird to see a dumbed down macro beer in this style, but here it is.

12 ounce bottle. Copper red color. Smallish beige head with a nice clinging lace. Nice caramel malt nose with obvious notes of hibiscus and mustard seed. The flavor is a bit perplexing in that the first impression is overly tart and spicy to the point of being undesirable. I want to like this beer but it just misses the mark. I guess I will be giving the other five bottles away or using them for a marinade.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a clear copper color with a large creamy off-white head. Average head retention. Aroma of really nothing at all. Faint tart berries. The taste is tart berries and a bit of spice. Thin and slightly watery. Meh.
