Smells a little pleasantly sweeter than most shiner beers. Looks like any other lager but perhaps a little darker. Good clean flavor and the touch of grapefruit makes it pretty tasty. Not bitter grapefruit like in hops, more like friendly grapefruit juice. Has a somewhat soda pop feel to it. Nice and sizzly, could go over as a sessionable beer. Yes, overall this is very friendly. No real bitterness on the finish. Enjoyable, or perhaps I was just thirsty?

Bottle from Total Wine in Roseville. Pours amber gold with a creamy off-white head. Primary aroma is ginger. Primary flavor is ginger, followed by malt and some grapefruit rind. Finish is not sweet, and pretty refreshing.

Sampled on draft this beer was awful. Total score 1.7. this rating is for the bottle which is significantly better. Poured a dark amber color with a medium sized foamy white head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was sweet grapefruit soda. The flavor was yeasty and grainy with a grapefruit soda presence. Medium length finish. Light to medium body. Decent

Draft: Lots of ginger on the nose with significant amounts of whole grapefruit. CLear amber, headless, awfully pale for a red. Quite dry, stale malt and tons of ginger, not hot. Not what I expected, but a drinkable ginger beer.

On tap at Texas Beerfest. Pours a clear copper orange with a small white head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is a cherry tart and fruit. Thin mouthfeel with a sweet fruit and tart. Easy to drink a decent brew from Shiner.

Iced tea appearance, no head or visible carbonation (tho it was not flat). Aroma was strong on grapefruit juice but more like real grapefruit juice, not the grapefruitiness that comes from hops. There is quite of bit of ginger skirting the nose as well. Flavor was like mixing a cheap amber beer with grapefruit juice and steeping in a hunk of ginger root, which as you might imagine would be a freaking terrible thing to do. This is almost without a doubt the worst beer I have ever had.

Pour is a clear yellow with a large white head. Aroms is citrus and ginger. Flavor is super sour grapefruit. If you do not like grapefruit juice you will not like this. Weird and I won’t want another sample of this.

From a 12oz bottle from Pick’s Liquors poured into a Pint Glass. It’s a dark, almost burnt orange color with about a quarter inch of head that disapears almost immediately. The aroma is malt with a slight grapefruit note. Taste is lightly sour. It’s light bodied and very thin textured. Lively carbonation with a long carbonated finish, almost like I took a shot of soda water. Overall, it’s an average beer. Probably good for sitting outside on a hot summer day, and the price point is pretty good. I’ll probably buy it again sometime this 100+ degree summer but if the store runs out I won’t shed a tear.
