On tap at Beer Temple. Slightly hazy golden orange colour, white head. Aroma of citrus hops, sweet malts, light caramel. Flavour is quite smooth, light citrus but not as sharp or zesty as you’d imagine from NZ hops, oranges, caramel, light floral, crisp bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Nice.

From a 500ml bottle on 24/12/ 2012 (shared by Butz with thanks). Pours a very dark golden with a small to medium head. Has a fabulous, very strong piney hop aroma, with some floral and caramel notes. Flavour wise, you get sweet biscuit and caramel malt, orange, lime, citrus peel, and a massive, lingering resiny bitterness. Exhibits a wonderful sweet bitter balance and great complexity while being exceptionally easy to drink for a beer approaching 9%. A sensational DIPA. Another cracker from 8 Wired.

Tap at the Cask, Pimlico - 07/12/12. Clear mid amber with a large off white head that thins but retains. Good lacing ensues. Nose is big on caramel malts, grapefruit backing up the malts, also a good pinch of pine and some mineral tones. Taste comprises caramel malt, mango, pine, hops, bitter grapefruit, sweet candied sugars, touch of biscuit. Medium bodied with bite, soft carbonation leading to a bitter sweet finish. Decent.

Craft Clerkenwell. Light haze on this amber beer and a little white head. Nice fine carbonation in a slightly soft palate. Sweetish pale malt underpins. Lovely tropical fruity hops. Marmalade with mango, dried apricot, fresh orange and a trace of lemon. Finishes crisp and minerally, with a marmalade bitter aftertaste. Every mouthful a winner!

Keg at Craft Beer Co. - Islington, London. Pours clear gold with a fine, creamy head. Nose is all caramel and pine. Medium sweet flavor with some gritty pine, grass, earth, toasty malts. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Strong bitter finish, lightly warming, with ripe orange, more pine. Very good DIPA. Quite pleasant drinking. (3.8 - 11/25/2012).

Sampled at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2013 - Day 2, Session 1. Pours clear, deep gold with a creamy cap. Bright citrus fruits in the aroma, especially grapefruit. Big sweet flavor with sugary pale malts, lightly dried citrus, more grapefruit, some tangerine, faint pine needles. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Moderately resinous on the finish with sticky citrus, orange, grapefruit. A touch sweet at times but decent overall. (3.7)

Bottle, 11C. Bright clear amber with an inch of white head. Aroma of pine, kumquat, peach, caramel, lighter tropical fruit notes of lychee and gooseberry. Taste has peach and caramel, lots of citrus and some tropical fruits followed by a dry and bitter finish that leaves pine and grapefruit to linger. I find those lush Kiwi hops can be a bit overbearing and they’re well supported by more defined ones here. Nothing syrupy about it, alcohol dangerously well-hidden. Taut.
