Ter gelegenheid van de viering van 200 jaar Franse revolutie ontwierp brouwerij Huyghe in 1989 het gelegenheidsbier La Guillotine, een hoppig bier met dry-hopping van 8,5% VOL alcohol. Heel vlug sloeg het bier in een tiental landen aan waardoor La Guillotine nu een eervolle tweede plaats heeft verkregen in het Huyghe gamma.
Kleur en uitzicht: Goudblond, meergranen bier met een zeer persistente, wandklevende schuimkraag.
Geur: In deze complexe geur, ontwaren we een citrusachtig aroma, gevolgd door hoparoma's zoals Saaz, Brewers Gold en Amarillo.
Smaak: De eerste aanzet is zoetig, komende van de aanwezige alcohol. De intense smaak en volmondigheid maskeren de aanwezigheid van de hoge bitterheid.

Doble malta y trigo. Pajiza y turbia con tropezones de sedimento. Espuma hiperabundante con aspecto de gel de baño. Aroma plano y si acaso metálico. Potente en boca con predominio de dulce caramelo, aunque tiene un toque metálico, y también algo de melocotón. Bastante alcohólica.

Bottle with expiry date Oct 2017. Aroma is linden honey, fruity, coriander. Spicy bitter finish. Alcohol well hidden. Good.

Tap at Little Delirium. Clear golden with white head. Tangerine skins, hay, marmalade, funk, raw vegetables, sweet malts. Quite sweet going into light sourness and thick bitter citrus finish. Medium bodied. Quite interesting beer, has some almost lambic like touch, I like it.

0,33L bottle (from Drink Shop, Tallinn). Pours golden with off-white head. The head stays. Aroma is fresh fruits, apples, malt. Flavor is sweet, malt, fresh fruits, citrus. Alcohol is rather well covered. Overall: ok.

Helder donkergeel bier met veel schuim. Smaak is zoet en kruidig, hop, banaan, vanille. Erg goed bier wat lang blijft hangen.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ van Rooij, Culemborg Hazy golden with a thin white head. Sweet and spicy aroma with some Belgian yeast. Taste is bitter but the alcohol sweetness does indeed mask that a bit. Finish is long and rather dry. Nice but deceptively potent beer.

Bottle at Turisten, Ljungskile. Hazy yellow with a gigantic white head, quickly dissipating leaving lots of lacings. Pale malty aroma with yeast, rustic european grassy hops. Taste is medium bitter, floral hops, nice round malty body, slight spices. Medium creamy body, low to medium carbo. Well balanced, I like the roughness in the nose.
