It took 2 years of brewing, tasting and testing to come up with the final recipe for Sam Adams Light. We focused on brewing a flavorful, high quality beer with a light-bodied taste and fewer calories.

Sam Adams Light is a unique beer, it’s not a lighter version of our Boston Lager.
Sam Adams Light is the only light beer that uses no adjuncts and a traditional brewing process to ensure a balance of flavor and light-bodied taste.
No other domestic light beer uses only the four classic ingredients of beer: pure water, lager yeast, Noble hops and barley malt.

The quality ingredients that make up Sam Adams Light include two-row malt and some of the most expensive hops in the world, Spalt Spalter Noble hops.
At 128 calories, Sam Adams Light features a clean finish and no aftertaste.

Pours with an ok heada nd an amber body. Does not really look like a light beer. Mild aroma barely worth noting. Taste is mostly watery with a little metallic tint. Some beer flavor peeps through the watered down taste, but at least it is smooth and completely non-offensive. Some hops are there as well as some malts. Not too bad.

Bottle. Pours a golden amber color with a medium frothy white head. A very malty aroma with light hops. Good lacing that dissipates quickly. The taste is a watery malt with a metallic finish, nowhere near as good as boston lager.

12 oz bottle. Pours cleat golden yellow to orange with a white head. Malty aroma. Sweet malty flavoured, a bit of caramel. Crisp. Watery finish with almost no bitterness.

Bottle. Aroma is faintly barley. Like most light beers, this has a predominantly watery taste. All in all, the best of the light beers.

Bottle: hops are readily present, but in a medium intensity with malts to balance. A light beer that is unoffensive and certainly better than bud light or is competitors. However, the Boston lager is much better than this one...

Eh. Watery version of the Boston Lager. Not awful, but not good. Just stick with the regular Boston Lager.

Brown bottle, 12 ounces, best before: august 2005; eye: amber, white head that collapses rapidly, a bit of effervescence; nose: malt, caramel, ash; mouth: explosion of malt followed by a quite abrupt drop in taste, a bit of bitterness appears, finale is quite watery, lightly sweet and bitter, light body, nice carbonation; overall: not bad for a "light" FRANÇAIS Bouteille brune, 12 onces; meilleure avant : août 2005; oeil : ambré, mousse blanche qui s’affaise rapidement, un peu d’effervescence; nez : malt, caramel, cendre; bouche : explosion de malt en bouche suivi d’une chute du goût assez rapide, un peu d’amertume qui s’ajoute, finale plutôt aqueuse, légèrement sucrée et amère, corps léger, bonne carbonatation; en résumé : bonne pour une « light »

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Clear, fully golden with a white head. Malty nose. Light and watery body with sweetish, lightly caramelish malt and again sweet notes of brewing cereal and brewing syrup. No bitterness. So not even Sam Adams managed to produce a pleasant lite beer. 300306
