Cette Double de la Trappe est assurément bien faite et ils maîtrisent assurément le genre. La complexité, sans être extraordinaire est très honnête avec un joli cocktail aromatique. Je la trouve cependant quelque peu prévisible avec un manque de personnalité que je peux retrouver dans d'autres doubles. Le visuel est sur un brun limpide avec une fine effervescence soutenue et une mousse beige soutenue. Le nez est sur un beau cocktail de prune, candy, banane, raisin, alcool et figue avec un léger girofle. L'attaque présente une fraîche amertume qui laisse ensuite la place aux arômes présents au nez avec de légères épices qui viennent réhausser le tout. L'alcool est quant à lui bien dosé pour donner un peu de puissance à l'ensemble. La deuxième bouche monte en puissance avec un alcool, à 7 % impeccable. L'arrière bouche, un peu plus amère est proche de l'attaque tout comme le final qui aurait mérité d'être un peu plus présent et aromatique. La longueur est toutefois appréciable. Bien réalisé.

33cl bottle - Pours a chestnut brown colour with a large foamy beige head that slowly settled. The aroma is brown bread, dark fruit (prunes and dates), caramel and brown sugar notes. A moderately sweet taste, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread and dark fruit flavours with a malty mildly bitter finish.

At taphouse Munich. Flavor: Cough syrup. Medical. Clinical. Fruity. Pear. This flavor makes me hesitate to actually taste it. Wish there were more words to describe the flavor. Ok, tastes not that bad - brown bread. Malt.

Bottle. Has a brown color with lower carbonation. Aroma of caramel malt, raisin, and bread pudding. Flavor is a direct reflection of the aroma. A very classic example of the style. Can’t believe it took me this many years to rate this!!

Bottle from Metro, I think. Drunk with some pizza after eating monkfish on a Sunday. Dark brown with a big foamy head. Lightly sweet malt/roast notes. Nice brown sugar on the tongue, not overpowering in flavor but with good complexity, some crunchy Belgian yeast overtones to wrap one's taste buds around. A classic.

Bottle. Malty aroma and taste, light roasty notes, spicy notes, medium bitter. Medium body, malty spicy bitter finish. Good.
